Chuck is a character you love to hate. I think this is IT, for him. I take my cue from BREAKING BAD who was not one to have sentimental value for good actors/characters.
I figure next season we will probably see Hank and Jesse.
It was hard to watch Chuck that episode. The season finale of next season will be the farewell to Kim, imo.
Don't confuse Gilligan and Gould with those idiots at the Walking Dead or Game of Thrones. Chuck is dead. The show was building toward that moment for two seasons.
In defense of Game of Thrones--I've never seen so many dead main characters.
I agree that something is going to happen to Kim. Addict? (the comment about the "good stuff") death? Break up? This and Chuck's demise will send Jimmy over the edge.
Love this show.
I don't think they kill off Kim or have her face the dragons of addiction. I think Jimmy restarts his practice with clients like Nacho and Tuco amongst other criminal elements. His tactics will kill their relationship and that death will finish his turn as Jimmy. She leaves town and we see her show up at the end of the series when Saul's Cinnabon jig is up.
Good theory. My add on, he rebuilds his practice, with her help. He goes after respectable clients. Then, the nefarious come a calling. She isnt fulfilled in her career (Atticus Finch). He isnt in his (no juice or con). She takes a position in a new state. He doesn't want to sully his brother's name with a shady practice. He changes his name and begins the Saul Goodman era.
Death or the resurrection? Wasn't out of the blue on the show. Thought it was great...like the rest of the season.
I'm not talking about the rest of the season. I'm talking about the cliffhanger. Not my taste. I like finality. That's why the Sopranos finale still irks me regardless of how spectacular it was, and I stopped watching TWD a year ago.
I'm just sayin'. It's kinda lazy. Gilligan and Gould know they don't have to drag the audience along. The writing should be good enough on its own. And for the shows they have written, directed, and produced in the BB universe, they have been. It's a thanks to the viewer for coming on the ride, imo.
Not exactly a cliffhanger bc you can hear the gun go offI think it was a big part of the whole story. He doesn't get murdered and he's honor bound to continue as Lord Commander of the Watch. Freed him to be eventual King of the North. Cliffhangers don't have to be cheap and I don't think this was. Agree with you on Breaking Bad/BCS's ability to do their own thing...but they've used cliffhangers. Jessie pointing the gun at Gil, anyone?
Honestly, the GOT thing wasn't really a cliffhanger. It was obvious what had happened. Of course, because of everything being over-analyzed and set leaks, it was obvious what was going to happen next, too. They should have done it in the second to last episode or waited until the next season if they wanted to keep the secret. However, it had absolutely nothing to do with dragging viewers around. If anything, it had more to do with leaving off in the same place as the book, as several of the major storylines that season did.I'm not talking about the rest of the season. Always could have shot to the side.

Also, did you not see the desert shootout episode of Breaking Bad?
He couldn't POSSIBLY have shot to the side? Gotta disagree with you, Ed. Heard that possibility throughout the break. Didn't believe it...like I don't any possibility of Chuck surviving, but if they don't show someone dying?
