OU actually gains a recruiting advantage if Texas goes to the Pac 10 and they join the SEC. Folks are not confused about who has the best conference in football. A lot of athletes want to play against the best.

OU would offer that to such recruits, while the best team Texas would be playing regularly would be just another SEC powerhouse.

Same angle for aTm.

I have no problem insulting Blacksburg. I have no problem insulting Va. Tech. The city makes Lubbock look like Los Angeles and the school is nothing but UVA's hillbilly cousin and a breeding ground for screw loose, gun happy engineering freaks. I love when Tech apologists act like the Hokies are the college version of the Redskins to the DC area. Their huge following there is why it took 30 years of begging and pleading to get them into the ACC. The league wasn't sure it could handle such a spike in TV ratings.

Exactly. I'm amazed at the number of people who act like adding B listers like Va. Tech and Clemson somehow strengthens the league.

Hey Guys,

This Paulie Shore loving bathroom cleaning uneducated a hole must leave. Got to wake up at 4 EST to trade some foreign currencies. Hat_vol, just joking with you. Hope you can take a joke, but somehow I doubt it. I hate VT but somehow miss the point of how Blacksburg has anything to do with whether or not VT gets into the SEC.

Va Tech is not going to the SEC. They are locked at the hip with Virginia. I would think that OU and Missouri gets the nod along with Texas Tech. They then add WVU.

This has actually been entertaining. Almost forgot what the thread was about....but for what's it's worth I really wish teams would stay put. I know it's not going to happen but TX, OK in the Pac 10....just doesn't seem right. Heck, I'm just getting used to Ark and SC in the SEC. Guess I just like tradition. Not back to the entertainment guys.

Why the hate for Blacksburg? I would agree that Tech's sports history is pretty much non-existent and living in Roanoke, I pretty much despise Tech fans. However over the past 10 years their football team has been pretty solid and would be a middle tier SEC team. The fans show up as well as any in college football. The BB team is probably one of the most under rated squads. Since joining the ACC they have finished no worse than 4th every year. True the ACC has been a little down but still not bad considering the top two spots are generally reserved for UNC and Duke.

As for the town, I wouldn't put it as a top ten vacation destination but I have been to far worse places.

It is all about MONEY.

Texas doesn't have the ability to have the TX network if they join the Big X or PAC 10. Do they get part of the PAC 10 network money or the Big X network money? Yes, but it is nowhere near the money they can make on just the TX network.

I see Texas AM, Oklahoma and Ok St looking at making the move to the SEC.
That gives the SEC coverage in Texas and Oklahoma.
I think the SEC should go after Virginia and Maryland and that would give us the entire Virginia Maryland DC market too.
