B'ham station says Oklahoma petitions SEC

It is all about MONEY.

Texas doesn't have the ability to have the TX network if they join the Big X or PAC 10. Do they get part of the PAC 10 network money or the Big X network money? Yes, but it is nowhere near the money they can make on just the TX network.

I see Texas AM, Oklahoma and Ok St looking at making the move to the SEC.
That gives the SEC coverage in Texas and Oklahoma.
I think the SEC should go after Virginia and Maryland and that would give us the entire Virginia Maryland DC market too.

One report said TX would be allowed to have their own network in either the Big 10 or SEC but not in the Pac 10.

its all wild speculation. i take everything i hear with a grain of salt. i honestly would be surprised if VT came to the SEC. And personally, I don't like it. But whatever, I've got to say it's entertaining to follow

Why the hate for Blacksburg? I would agree that Tech's sports history is pretty much non-existent and living in Roanoke, I pretty much despise Tech fans. However over the past 10 years their football team has been pretty solid and would be a middle tier SEC team. The fans show up as well as any in college football. The BB team is probably one of the most under rated squads. Since joining the ACC they have finished no worse than 4th every year. True the ACC has been a little down but still not bad considering the top two spots are generally reserved for UNC and Duke.

As for the town, I wouldn't put it as a top ten vacation destination but I have been to far worse places.

behind florida bama and lsu there isnt anyone in the league that has had a better past decade than the Hokies. They would be a top 4 SEC team immediately.

I have no problem insulting Blacksburg. I have no problem insulting Va. Tech. The city makes Lubbock look like Los Angeles and the school is nothing but UVA's hillbilly cousin and a breeding ground for screw loose, gun happy engineering freaks. I love when Tech apologists act like the Hokies are the college version of the Redskins to the DC area. Their huge following there is why it took 30 years of begging and pleading to get them into the ACC. The league wasn't sure it could handle such a spike in TV ratings.

I agree that Blacksburg make Lubbock look like a smog-riddled, crime-filled craphole.

Why don't you take a look around Knoxville at places like the bustling metropolis of Grainger County and the beautiful city of Rutledge. Or take a peek at somewhere like LaFollette.

A degree from Tech is much better than your community college degree or your GED. Not sure which you've got, since you can't pick up a job that won't let you travel out of the hillbilly hills of east Tennessee. I'd also refrain from insulting somewhere you've never been and a college that has, in recent years, surpassed the one you "support" in almost every way, academically and athletically.

Don't throw the stones in the glass house.

The thing I dislike most about Va Tech is their fans. Particularly the ones from "the 703". The football program is decent, but that's it. I really don't think they are a good all-round fit in the SEC. There are worse teams, but I think the SEC can do better.

Didn't we go through this before. TX was invited the last time the SEC expanded. But unless Baylor came with TX then the politicians would not sign off on it. And of couse the SEC did not want Baylor. Unless Baylor is in a major conference then there FB program won't last.

I will take a Tech fan over a UVA fan any day. But they have a following pretty similar in DC to what UVA's is. As far as the ACC goes, DC is a Maryland town. There is more coverage of the Terps than UVA or VT combined.

It was unless A&M came along then too, not baylor

I heard it was Baylor, but still the TX politicians want to bundle the TX schools together and I don't think the SEC wants more than one TX school because then TX would immediately be the top state in the conference.

The word I got from a journalist is that TX can have their own network ONLY in the SEC. Again, this whole situation is so fluid that things change.

actually though, if I'm correct it was just Texas's request that A&M be packaged too

The whole legislature viewpoint/issue didn't really become an active component in texas football until sometime after that

again though, I need to double check on that again

I called it already that a&m and VT was our best bet. This will be a solid platinum conference. To heck with gold they can wear that out west. It was really brass anyway no gold, ask Kiffin.

I've been wanting to ask you how you're practicing law with that GED of yours. If you could explain that to me, it would be much appreciated and would sure save me a hell of a lot of money.

How you were able to conclude that from his post, is impressive. Color me inspired. I wish I had those magical powers. Apparently through your extensive world travel, you've managed to come up with the ability to be informed on everything one does, by a single message board post. Talent at it's very best.

I bet he honed that skill by taking some of those Harvard quality science courses they have in Blacksburg.

To be honest, I'm actually starting to get bored with all this super conference talk. Lotta talk no results. Asides from Colorado today and Nebraska tomorrow.

I'll have to go grab a couple of those courses when they're in the area. Hopefully they'll have one centered in politics.
