Bible Topic Thread (merged)

I'm sneaking back while I have a sec, there's so many things I want to post about but I can't. So I'll tackle a few points.

Carbon dating is inaccurate at best.

The Bible talks about Giants, I believe they exist and possibly still do. Some people claim they come from the seed of angels, but who knows.

I'm not sure if the Anti-Christ is here or not. As much as I dislike Obama (and he does seem to fit some of the profiles such as charismatic etc, but so do a lot of polticians), I don't think he is the Anti-Christ. However, give the politics on a golabl scale, it wouldn't surprise me if he isn't here.

I know of Daniel Chapter 9 OE, but I don't think it ever clearly defines who the people of the ruler are.

Now then, tell me where Revelation describes the AntiChrist...

Enabling someone's behavior does not equal love. In fact, it would be more loving to help someone stop sinful behavior.

i'll also add that our country is not a Christian country. It's a country based on freedom of religion and we should not make people follow a Christian belief if our country was not founded on it.

That isn't the role of government..........

That is churches being lazy and wanting the government to do their job for them!

i agree, the church hasn't been doing it's job and there are a lot of preachers that have been preaching the same thing. God will also judge the churches and Christians about the type of works they do.

but when we start embracing and supporting lifestyles that are completely against God's teaching, then we're going to suffer for it.

Our country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. OK, I'm not turning this too poltical.

I never said it was. I am not trying to make anyone follow anything...until....people start trying to make me follow something. Then it becomes an issue.

you really should read more history. if you don't think our country was founded on Christian principle, then you really need to read more.

I think loosely is stretching it, but they didn't post all the Gospels on a wall either.

I use loosely, because most principles we used from Judeo-Christian practices are used in most peaceful religions. Calling them Judeo-Christian only is not correct.

... but what were they thinking of when they wrote the Constituion? I agree a lot of religions have the same ideas, but I don't think they were reading about Hinduism when they wrote it.

But they specifically wanted to make sure people were free from religious biases. As a country we can't make people suffer simply because they don't follow a Christian principle.

Now you're talking about something different. I'm simply referring to what was their thought process behind what they wrote. By the way, religious freedom also means freedom to protect Christianity, not only to stop religious persecution. It's a two way street.

but allowing homosexual couples the same government rights as Christian couples does nothing to harm you and I of our Christianity. As OE said, it's not the government's job to wipe out homosexuality, it's our job as Christians.

Unless it is a Christian principle like ...say...murder or stealing or electing a Democrat

Correct. They really have no business in it at all, that includes condoning it.

murder and stealing our basic principles in most peaceful religions like I stated before. As for electing a Democrat, anymore electing some crazy right winged nut job is just as dangerous.

No one is telling them what to do, it's a matter of legal interpertation. Are you applying what you're arguing to abortion as well? Because even if i wasn't a Christian, my belief on that issue would be the same.
