What is the deal with women teaching guys and vice versa?

When I was attending the super strict indy distinctive baptist church I grew more spiritually under a woman over a 3 year peroid that I did my other 15 years with holy men!

I see nothing wrong with a woman being a Sunday School teacher and teaching guys. My mom was my Youth teacher and my grandmother was taught my class when I was younger.

The topic was...Should women hold "official" positions in Church leadership...i.e....Elder, Deacon or Pastor.

OK, not to change the subject, but I'd like to talk about Revelations if I may. It's the one book in the Bible that has people scratching their heads more than any other.

Has any part of it came to pass? If so, what? Plus should it be taken literally? I recently watched a small prt of a show on the NG channel, and basically it was being put down, saying it was the writings of a man losing his mind who was on the run. I disagree, but your opinions?

Yes...the book of Revelation should be taken literally. I have a hard time trying to understand it. I think that some of it has come to pass.

I dunno about if any thing has come to pass. There are certain groups that believe the tribulation started when the temple was destroyed by the Romans.

There are also certain groups that firmly believe Israel becoming a nation is a fufillment of prophecy.

Revelations is an interesting book to study and if you read correctly you will receive a blessing for it.

I am confident that the writer was specifically talking about the Roman Empire and Nero in the short term prophecy and also referencing future events.

That is the thing with biblical prophecy, there is always a current and future meaning.

Also with revelations color and numbers play a huge role in attempting to understanding what the book really means.

I've heard that about Isreal as well... also about the whole Tower of Babel thing. I don't remember exactly, but there is supposed to be a passage theat refers to helicopters and/or tanks. Something to do with metal scorpions. I'll have to look it up.

And a Borg Cube? Is that your idea of heaven, you nerd? :)

What about some of the specific passages, such as the dragon etc? What do you guys think it means?

that is completely true, the Bible does say that Israel will be come a nation.

quick que then we can get back to revelations. has anyone read the book "90 minutes in Heaven?" it's based on a true story by a baptist preacher. i recommend it to everyone. very good read

Okay...OE you seem to understand it a lot more than I do!

Nope, I have my thoughts.

The reference of 666 is Nero. No question about it.....

Also talking about the desolation and such is by the Rome and the Roman Army.

When I mentioned numbers and color some believe as I do that is specifically mentioning the Legion that was stationed in Palestine.

There are many subtle clues that can help you in understanding meaning in this particular book. You have to think very abstractly for much of it to make sense. It is one of the few books of the Bible that has a very different "style" of writing.

I guess that is what happens when you survive being boiled in oil.............

I think he is referencing the beasts/machines described in some of the passages. They reminded me of descriptions of a modern tank. Also when it talks about the scrolls being unrolled I couldn't help but think about the footage I've seen of nuclear detonations.

I heard it was good as well. My dad has that book but I haven't had a chance to read it...I am in the middle of reading "A Woman and Her God" which is a good read for a woman! :)

I just thought about it and I think I might be thinking of Ezekiel. That is another book of the Bible I found very interesting.
