Bible Topic Thread (merged)

First of all, please be careful using that "We" word.

Secondly, I like Beth Moore as well and let me say this, she is waaaayyy more powerful of a speaker than a lot of men I've seen. I'm sure Christ would have a problem with her leading a church  Seriously, can you see God saying "Nope, sorry, I've given you this tremendous gift, but b/c of this man made issue, I can't let you lead a church" Whatever! Don't you guys think the world is in such a state that God is joyous of anyone that wants to lead a church.

So my other thought is that I think the reason most ultra conservative Christian churches take issue with a female leading is b/c most of the churches doing it are generally assoc with Liberal and or gay. Since we agree on Beth Moore, I would be willing to bet if she was given a church, it would start to change the way conservative Christians look at women in leadership roles.

Beth Moore would not take the leadership of a Church.

Ever since God has made man, man has been trying to make a god to suit his way of thinking and beliefs.

Times have changed, but God hasn't. Way to many people want to say, I think or I believe this and that. None of that matters. All that matters is what God has said.

If God had wanted a woman to preach or lead a church, then he would have put verses saying so. A woman's role is clearly stated whether we agree or not. Who are we to question God?

I am not versed well enough in Scripture to give a good opinion. I was stoking the fire. I consider this particular issue a small one. I do think God intended us(men and women) for different roles though, thus us being different. I can see both sides of the argument.

That being said, our Interim Associate Minister at my church is a female.

Your opinion is always good and welcome in this thread.
You are correct about this being a small issue, but one that I raised to get the thread going again.

Do you know her brain? Do you know what she would do if she was moved by a vision to lead? This is the arrogance I'm talking about. You don't know what she would do in circumstances that asked her lead.

I suggest that you send her an e-mail and ask her that question. Her website is easy to find. But I do not think that you really want the answer that she will give you. It is clear from her teachings what she believes. And many groups have asked her to lead them. She always tells people to join a local Church, not to follow her.

If I seem arrogant, I appologize. That is not my intention.

Titus 2:3 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.

It continues on....

Titus 2:4 - That they teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

Titus 2:5 - To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God not be blasphemed.

It doesn't say to teach the men.

She was not a leader in the Church.

In some of the more obscure books (those that were not put into the Bible as we know it today) she was a leader and many of the apostles were jealous of her for it. After all after Christ rose he showed himself to her first, not the apostles.

I, for one, am not questioning God, I'm, like every religious scholar down to a bum on the street, just trying to make a good life and lead my children. And God is a big guy, he can take it if people try to figure out what he was saying. That's where all these diff religions come from, all these men with diff interpretations. The Holy Bible is a very complicated writing. I do think some things are simple like the love Christ has for us, however, daily, basics that we are talking about I believe can be up for discussion. Besides, a woman in a leadership position is not a salvation issue.

Hello..MOTHER!....j/k that is my Captain Jack Sparrow immitation.

Okay then, theoretically, if a woman is told to teach men by a man (her husband for the sake of argument) what is she to do?

 Agreed.

In the Bible (correct me if I am wrong, t-townvol) but it doesn't specifically say that it was his mother that Jesus appeared to at first. It just says Mary.

You're right. Salvation has nothing to do with it.

I think maybe we should move on to another subject. I wasn't trying to ridicule you or anyone else or cause an argument.

Easy, you do what God has said. Never take man's word over God. If God says no teach, then that means no teach. No matter what I say or any other man says.

It's hard to say what she would do if an angel came to her and told her to do it. I mean virgins can't get pregnant either but it happened and it was real and it was not traditional.

I don't mean arrogant mean, I just mean that Christians are not open to what is possible. My church did this play or skit one Sabbath about how the world and church would react if there were a current day Mary. The point being we really wouldn't accept anything like a virgin becoming pregnant or an angel's message or a vision, the way God communicated with people of the bible.

I'm just talking, I certainly didn't mean to sound ugly. I really enjoy religion and I am so thankful we are all different and there is variety. I'm very humble, there's nothing special about me, I try hard and I am genuine. And from time to time, I do like to stir the pot a bit :birgits_giggle::yes:
