Bible Topic Thread (merged)

I thought creationism and intelligent design were not synonymous, but it seems like in this thread they are treated as such. Couldn't one believe in creationism and not necessarily intelligent design (but rather natural processes like evolution shaping life going forward?) Or are there different "levels" of intelligent design? Could evolution itself be a mechanism put in place by intelligent design?

I am asking questions, not picking a fight. I swear. Just interested in people's thoughts.
Intelligent design is the same as creationism. The ID term has become popular recently since people have been trying to get it incorporated into public schools since it "sounds better." You already have what you're talking about.

Old Earth Creationists - Believe earth is around 4.6 billion years old. Also believe most accepted science regarding evolution and how our world came about with the expection that God was working behind it all.

Young Earth Creationists - The earth is 4 to 20 thousand years old, don't believe in evolution, tend to take the bible as a literal translation of events.

In regards to death, do you think that God has a way for every person to Die? (given he doesn't return before then)

Ex: I am in a car accident, and not wearing my seat bealt. They always says "Wear your seatbelt" I've heard people say "When it's my time to go, it's my time to go, and no seatbelt will save my life"

Truth in this> What do you think?

OK, say you are in that wreck and it turns out that it is your time to go, should you buckle up??

What if I'm reading a message board and someone makes a not so subtle suggestion that I kill myself?

I think BPV's got that one. If it's "your time" you could be buckled up in a crash suit and helmet in a tank. If it's really "your time" then, by definition, what you do to try to prevent it doesn't matter.

I've always found the "not your time" angle more fun. There's some outrageous things can happen to people yet they just walk away from it. I've myself have had three cars totaled by people running into me and got knocked across 2 lanes of traffic and into the median after being rear-ended by a semi in Atlanta rush hour traffic. Guess it wasn't "my time".

So, you were the one that caused me to "lose my time", in traffic. :hi:

Could be. :)

Nobody got hurt so it makes for a good story. Impact broke the seat on my car so I was basically trying to regain control by steering from the back seat. I actually drove the car, jacked up rear end and all, back to Knoxville when it was over. How other cars didn't end up involved I'll never know.

God Knows!

This was a couple years back but my family and I were coming back from Church on a Wednesday night and a deer was getting ready to run into the passenger side of our van, where my wife was sitting, and all of a sudden the deer was gone. I looked in the rear view mirror and screamed to my wife that the deer had just jumped over our car.

It was crazy!

Now that is very "officer" like you woman.....i have been in cars and seen cars that deer have leapped over to avoid contact.
It is when the deer leaps and comes through the windsheild, that people die. Saw that happen also.

Anyway...God is Love!

It blew me away because the deer was at her door and then all of sudden in the air and landing on the other side of the roadway.

That is what I would like to believe...

My claim to fame is pulling out into a street when I was a youngster in my big wheel and a car should have hit me. I remember closing my eyes and ending up across the street in a neighbors driveway.

Number two was about 5 years ago. I was visiting my future wife and we went out with her brother and his future wife. We were turning across traffic and he was blinded by another car turning across the opposite side of traffic and he pulled out in front of a coal truck and I braced and asked God not to let it hurt and be quick and someone we ended up across 2 lanes of traffic and in the clear. There is no way we should have survived.

You get credit for that score.

One huge goal for me, one small itch on the mankind's behinney!:)

God Knows!

Mary! Had a little Lamb,
His fleece was white as snow.
And everywhere that Mary went,
The Lamb was sure to go.

He followed her to school each day,
T'wasn't even in the rule.
It made the children laugh and play,
To have a Lamb at school.

And then the rules all changed one day,
Illegal it became;
To bring the Lamb of God to school,
Or even speak His Name!

Every day got worse and worse,
And days turned into years.
Instead of hearing children laugh,
We heard gun shots and tears.

What must we do to stop the crime,
That's in our schools today?
Let's let the Lamb come back to school,
And teach our kids to pray!
