Biggest Tearjerking Scenes in Television and Movies

#1 The scene in Forrest Gump when he is talking to Jenny as she is dying about all his beautiful experiences, and she says "I wish I could have been with you Forrest and he says "You were".

#2 The next scene when Forrest is talking to Jenny at her grave.

#3 The scene in Sleepless in Seattle when Tom Hanks is talking to the talk radio host about his wife.

#4 The scene in Saving Private Ryan when Capt Miller tells Ryan as he lays dying to "Earn this!" And then transitions to the elderly Ryan at the Normandy graveyard at Miller's grave. He then asks his wife " Have I been a good man, have I lived a good life?"

I know Tom Hanks is all these movies, but that is just a weird coincidence. These scenes kill me every time. The movie A Dogs Purpose has several scenes that had me choked up, so did Marley and Me. I know this is a weird one, but Toy Story 3 killed me, I guess like me you would have to have had kids that grew up with the Toy Story movies, and went off to college in the same time frame. If you did, I'm sure you understand.

Movie: Top Gun
Goose the best friend of Maverick the hero dies after ejecting from a airplane unsuccessfully.

All other the best friend of the hero dying is a dime a dozen cliche so any movie that has that cliche.

Field of Dreams, when Ray asks his dad if he'd like to play catch.

The whole of Morgan Freeman's ending monolouge in Shawshank Redemption, especially the line "I hope to see my friend and shake his hand."

Excellent movie set in a Midwest State Iowa the excellent movie Field of Dreams.
1 of the best happy endings in a movie. So a tearjerker but in a good way.

I agree with everyone on Up that was brutal.

And everyone who mentioned Click, when he just walked out on his dad and at the very end when hes chasing his daughter realizing he worked his whole life away.

I don't think I have seen anyone mention Pay it Forward.

This one is a little bit nerdier, but at the end of Return of the King when Aragorn says "you kneel to no one my friends" gets me.

I saw someone mention Dom's death in Gears of War (which was awful), but Cortana's in Halo 4 got me.

I will go ahead and throw out Land before Time as well when Little Foot loses his mom.

Actually most of the ending of Return of the King kind of got to me, especially when Frodo gets on the ship, even though I knew it was coming. Part of it was the emotional scenes but I think it was also it being the ending of an epic trilogy.

And if we're adding video games, pretty much the entire Team Ico "trilogy" (Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, The Last Guardian) all have emotional endings.

The Green Mile......when they put John Coffee in the electric chair and they're about to put the hood on him and he tells them not to because he is afraid of the dark...they honor his request and then proceed with the process....all the while all the officers are bawling their eyes out.

Best of The Best when the Korean that killed Tommy's brother a decade earlier in a tournament apologizes to Tommy and offers to be a brother to Tommy.

A excellent scene in a excellent unforgettable Masterpiece movie.
Add in the entire Korean team decides to give the Medals to the USA team which is the cherry on top of a hot fudge sundae or crushed oreos.
It id astounding that with terrible sequels including 1 hero fights a white supremacist group it moved so damn far away of what the 2 movies were

A excellent movie that shows a character that has the opportunity for Common Classic Vengeance or the eye for an eye, and instead Tommy doesn't kill him.
I really don't recall a movie that has something on that level where a Character could get revenge easily but doesn't.

I know the 2nd 1 is a illegal fighting league with death being how a fighter wins by killing the other figter, and weapons can be used so it's mostly The Running Man style sport and No Holds Barred except a area that is similar to what was used in Ancient Rome so not the same open area as The Running Man.
Exception being a Steel Cage in a Ring so similar to what the WWE, WCW, and other pro wrestling uses.

While that isn't the same as Olympic Martial Arts fighting because of weapons with no holds barred style, and the fighter has to kill his other fighter to win it's still in that same kind of sport with characters fighting with the objective is to win and defeat the other fighter so not a utterly different kind of movie.

Another Hanks movie..

Movie: Marked for Death
Screwface the remorseless predatory nefarious Kingpin sends his crew to shoot John's house which wounds a kid.

A terrific brutal violence movie that has brutal violence and breaking bones. Maybe the main inspiration was Predator, and Robocop except make it a Action movie with Syndicates selling narcotics with a badass character that was a DEA agent.

Cartoon X-Men: Episode Obsession
The sentient ship shown she has a choice because it has a woman voice helps the X-Men defeat Apocalypse by overriding the reprogram with Beast helping, and Apocalypse a ruthless remorseless nefarious monster is transported off the ship which is wrecked shortly after discovering and experiencing satisfaction, add in shown the ship is shown it has a choice thanking Beast, and it dies with Beast crying losing his new friend that no doubt he wanted to have her help him with his science and life problems as a co-worker, and a friend also show her what other good or great emotions she can experience.

I don't recall if I cried during the several times I've seen this episode but no doubt it's a colossal gut punch utterly heartbreaking, and somber so I know I was utterly somber.

Sober or somber?
