Black jerseys to be auctioned (merged)

From the BLM website:

"#BlackLivesMatter was founded in 2013 in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer. Black Lives Matter Foundation, Inc is a global organization in the US, UK, and Canada, whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes. By combating and countering acts of violence, creating space for Black imagination and innovation, and centering Black joy, we are winning immediate improvements in our lives."

Sorry, I do not see any anti-American, anti-Western or pro-Marxist sentiment in that defining statement.

BLM is all about making money. I'm sure Pruitt is doing this as a pre-emptive strike to keep these woke folks off his back

What this probably boils down to is Pruitt isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer and misspoke.

I could believe that.

I live in Knox County and heard 2 different reports on the drive in this morning. 1 clearly said auctioned for BLM, the other clearly just said auctioned for charity. So the local media isnt even consistent.

That would be a concern if he

1. Didnt already drive drunk
2. didnt punch a police officer
3. didnt slam a police officer to the ground
4. didnt steal one of the police officers taser
5. didnt shoot the taser at a police officer.

ALL OF THESE THINGS HE AND HE ALONE HAD CONTROL OF.

Minority Report has you getting arrested while drinking coffee and not yet breaking any laws.
That is exactly the rationalization LG offered. All the things you listed are acts committed; not acts which may be committed. My stance has nothing to do with justification of the officers shooting the man. My stance has everything to do with the concept that LEOs can be justified in taking measures because it prevents another crime/loss of life, etc.

I don't ever expect to get a ticket for running a stop sign and then have the officer cite me for 'looking like I am going to speed later today'.

Well he shouldnt because as a dad you purposely hit the cruise control at 9 above on the highway and 5 above in the city and everyone else is "free to go just around you" because you will "get there when you get there"

According to Tee Martin on the Swain show this morning, the money is going to go to a local cause, not BLM.

We'll see.

Oh come on. Seriously? Tee Martin just explicitly stated on the radio what you all desperately wanted to hear---that the money is going local and not to BLM---and your reaction is "We'll see"? Do you all just think Pruitt and Tee are trying to pull a fast one on the fanbase? Good lord....

A lot of jumping to conclusions on this thread.

Everyone needs to listen to Tee’s interview on the Swain event this morning.

I bet this has 15 plus pages before the end of the night......

Why does EVERYTHING have to be political now?

And will also get way more toxic by the end of the thread, I’m sure. It’s funny seeing these threads go from civil in the football forum to sh*tshows in the PF

I think the University and AD will be very thorough in picking a landing spot for the donations made. And we should be, I think It’s going to be very important. Whether people on here or anywhere else want to acknowledge it or not, there are a lot of people on the take right now and improving themselves or political affiliation under the guise of Social Justice. Cough...Kap... Kap...cough,..When this settles down a bit, I fully expect there will be a massive follow up of the money .

LULZ! Simmer down! He didn't say specifically where it would go.

The act of selling the jerseys and donating the proceeds suggests that the UTAD wants to help and respect its players -- and, you know, also keep up in recruiting.

The act of sending Tee Martin to the Swain Event to clarify it won't be Black Lives Matter itself suggests that the UTAD knows (or heard) that BLM Is a controversial political entity and donating specifically to it would be unwise. I think that should both answer many of the questions we've raised in this thread and settle most of the current debate.

If people learned to listen you would they would have understood that it was never going directly to BLM. I swear this fan base deserves all the trailer park jokes espn throws at us. From the jump it was a BLM charity.
