Bob Kesling Retiring

Bob was behind the 8 ball the day he sat down behind the mic. No one could follow the iconic John Ward and be considered a success. Seems like a great person who loved UT sports. Wish him nothing but the best in his retirement. Go do what you like Bob………..you have earned it through hard work, dedication, and commitment to your craft. Ride off into that behind the mic sunset!

I don't believe in my lifetime I will ever hear an announcer as good as John Ward again. I will never be completely satisfied with anyone else I don't think. I hope we can find a diamond in the rough somewhere to bring that kind of life back to the game.

What was Kesling's most memorable call? Did he even have one besides "what a turn of events!", which wasn't a great one?

I can't think of any, which is kind of sad since he was the Voice for 25 years.

I think Bob and Tim had an exact opposite presentation than Ward and Anderson. While Anderson was technically the color guy, Ward was the showman. Bob called the plays and let Tim bring the color to the broadcast. Tim had some pretty good one-liners from time to time "gitcha some of that Jaylen Tabor"

Really, over the last 25 years these guys didn't have a lot of opportunities to make memorable calls. There was one 11 year stretch we only qualified for a bowl game 5 times.
