Why can't teachers get those kinds of contracts????

Because every teacher in the country would try to get fired and never teach again.

Then the real dumbing of America would start.

That would be something wouldn't it? If he is trying, he is doing a great job so far.

Do you think he will be fired?

Poor guy. At Tennessee, having winning football and women's basketball teams is not enough.

Who knows?? I just wish that they would win more. If they have to fire Buzz to get that, then I am all for it. I don't care who they will have pay off or have to pay 3 different coaches blah blah blah....

Is it just a rumor or is true that Knight may come to TN....

When I first saw this question, my first reaction was, how gullible could you possibly be? But as silly as this rumor sounds, it's no crazier than if somebody had told you 6 months ago that Steve Spurrier was going to take the SC job. :dunno:

My first question would be WHY would Bobby Knight WANT to come to Tennessee??

Because you are going to join the team......what other reason could he possibly need?

I certainly don't condone the antics of Bobby Knight, but to say that they are unique and uncommon is to say that you haven't been around many team sports. Growing up I remember more coaches chewing tail, kicking players in the rear, or slapping them up beside thier helments more often than I saw coaches that didn't. As a matter of fact, growing up I don't think I ever heard of a championship team that didn't have a coach with a hands on kick-ass attitude. Of course this was before the time of "time out" and the "quiet seat".

I've had coaches do that... My coaches motivated me with a slap upside the helmet. One of our coaches could bench 280+ (A lot given his age) and would grab players by the belt and toss them around. What Knight did was assault.

I think he's talking about the Neil Reid choking incident that was on tape. I actually like Knight, but it was hard to dispute that one.

I don't recall seeing that tape. I've seen lots of coaches grabbing players jaws to line up thier faces so that they could see eye to eye sorta like the way a football coach will grab a player by his face mask to get his attention. Was it something like that or was the coach purposely tring to hurt the kid?

It was replayed over and over again. It was clearly a two handed, choke around the neck at a practice. I'm sure Neil Reid was probably not doing what Knight wanted him to do and he was trying to get a point across. I have no idea what his intentions were, but I think most objective observers would say that it crossed the line; especially in light of the fact that it was caught on tape.

.... nor parole.

I have to say that I don't like the idea of BK at UT. I really think that he has embarassed both himself, his teams, and college sports in general. Everytime I see his picture on Sportscenter my mind automatically says: "oh God, what's he done NOW?"

That's just not the kind of guy I want associated with my Alma Mater. Kelly Washington was bad enough.

Bobby Knight to UT and I will root against that embarrassment till he leaves.

He appears to have repented and is doing well at Texas Tech. Should we heap such condemnation? Could any of us stand up to such scrutiny. He who is forgiven much, much is expected!! Like final 4 appearances!

Embarrassment? I will tell you what is embarrassing...... our record. 5-9 in SEC play is embarrassing.......... 12-15 overall is embarrassing. Bobby Knight seems to be mellowing out in his old age anyway. His mellow is all the intensity anyone would need. Would you rather be embarrassed by the team or the coach? The way I see it, it would be an even trade. :twocents:

"It was just a "love choke", that is all!"

From what I saw BK was showing lots o' Love that day..... can't we all just get along!
