The band did not take the field, we can't take up more than one parking space in the closest lot to the stadium, wah, wah.

All the people whining about this crap need to get over it. People were glutonous in their affairs in G-10, taking up much more space than they paid for. Now, the hammer has come down and everyone is going to suffer the consequences. This mandate will most likely last as long as the University deems it necessary to get the point across to its apparently very spoiled season ticket holders. Keep in mind that this is a university that has very real problems providing parking for 30,000 people every day. On Saturdays, 106,000 fans are coming in, and yet people in G-10, and not just a small minority, take up 2 to 3 spots for their chairs, their TVs, their smokers, tables, etc.

Have any of you people ever tailgated at a sold out NFL game? You have 1 spot! People set up tents in grass, set up smokers right behind their tailgates (hmm...tailgating, imagine that) they do not consume 10 yards of space for their "party."

As noted Civil Rights Leader Rodney King once said "people, can't we all just get along?"

Thank you for proving my point. You just used the NFL as an example -- setting up tents and smokers behind the tailgate. The mandate by the university that was published in the KNS forbids the use of either in the G-10 garage, which means, virtually, no "tailgating." NO WHERE have I posted that I consume 10 yards of space, and NO WHERE have I demanded more than one spot. I DO believe that those who shell out thousands for a parking pass should have the right to set up shade and grill out beneath the glory of the Power T Jumbotron.

I'm sick of reading posts from a bunch of people who have NO idea what they're talking about NOR are affected by this move, who then misquote those who ARE affected and call us all crybabies. How about giving a little serious thought to how you would react were you on the blunt end of this raw deal?

I'm sorry that I overestimated the maturity and intelligence of some posters. Let me simplify:

Imagine buying season tickets to the Titans, then halfway through the season, the city of Nashville deciding that there will be no outdoor grilling or erecting of temporary structures during game day. Would you be upset?

I understand exactly what you are saying. I do not park in G-10, so I guess I dont have anything in this battle, but from an outsider, I can see the university telling people they can use only one spot. But I do not understand what you can not have a grill, tent, chairs, etc if you are right behind your spot tailgating. That does not make any sense to me. And Why are they just regulating this in G-10? Are they not going to let anyone that parks in a garage on campus bring their grills, tents, chairs any more? Like I said i completely understand not taking up more than 1 spot, but I dont understand telling someone they can not tailgate... Just my two cents.

More importantly why are changing the rules AFTER the money has been spent, and AFTER a 5-6 season (irrelevant but will only serve to make people more upset). The situation would be a little different if the rules applied next year.

:worship: Wow. Someone who doesn't donate thousands of dollars for a spot ACTUALLY gave this thing some thought and understands our frustration. See how easy that is, guys?

Exactly. I mean did not donate Thousands and thousands of dollars to the university to get a spot. And then be told that you can not bring tailgating Equipment to the game what so ever. Like I said I completely agree with no more than one parking spot, but taking it away all together? I think that is a bit much.

They are regulating it in G-10 because if you have ever been in that lot on a gameday then you would know it has turned into a 3 ring circus. The reason they are outlawing all tents is simple: it is easier and less costly for the university to outlaw it all then to have officers constantly patrolling to make sure that the land grabbers in G-10 are allowing enough room for others to park. If you get to the game any time later than 2 hours prior to gameday, and have a G-10 parking pass, you will not find a parking spot without someone camped out in it, that is if you can navigate your way through the obstacle course that is the driving area in the parking lot.

So, again, boo-hoo. They are taking your toys away...

Have you all in G-10 talked to anyone at the university about this, or will they listen? Do you know why they have told you not tailgating at all?

Stop throwing around this "thousand dollars a spot" crap. Nobody here cares about your money.

Maybe not, but I know I would be mad if I donated that money to the university and could not tailgate, while someone that donated less money and is farther away is still able to bring tents. grills, chairs, etc. and tailgate.

I beg to differ. YOU may not care about it, but I sure as hell do. And, a few above posters who thought this through apparently decided that they would, too. I can assure you that the many, many others who work hard for thier money and then contribute it to UT also care a great deal. AND. . . .you know who else cares about it? The university that WAS getting it.

First, stop using the word "donate." A donation implies that one expects nothing in return...that is certainly not the case here. Also, people who pay less are not always further away. There are plenty of people who donate plenty of money who do not enjoy being in G-10. Most of them have moved to reserved spots on the strip, where they can in fact buy 2 and 3 spots, or to the lot next to Stokely, where they can set up on the lawn.
