Bowers Having Surgery

UGA is stomping us with or without Bowers.

I just want the kid to realize his potential professionally.
Agree, he's arguably the best player, and the trajectory was a trip to New York as a sophomore. The good news is, if it happens to be comparable to Cedric Tillman's surgery, that he will eventually recover. Tillman never was the same as a VOL, but he seems to have recovered now. Having Bru on the field for us probably moved the betting line forward by at least a field goal. So, as a VOL fan, it's easy to see what the Dawg fan base must be feeling now. They are deeper though, but a Bowers caliber player isn't waiting on the bench for Ga. Truly sucks for them. Last year's Bama game ended up meaning more, because Bryce Young was playing lights out that day. Glad we didn't win that one against a backup QB.

I think he could come back if UGA is in Atlanta. I’d be surprised if his ankle will be ready for Knoxville, though it’s far too early to tell.

He could easily shut it down, though. He has nothing left to prove. Something tells me he wants back on the field, but that’s little more than wishful thinking now.

UGA enjoyed decent injury luck in the last two years. Not this year: Bowers out maybe the rest of the year; number 1 WR severely limited; top OT out since S.Car.; top 3 RBs each missing multiple games (one out for the year); multiple other OL/TEs missing multiple games. Ain’t nobody gonna cry for UGA (nor should they) and injuries are a part of the game, but it’s a lot on one side of the ball.
I could see him coming back for the post season. Show he is back to full speed, no injury worries. Even if its only a few plays in each game. He is their best player, but I don't think he is the difference in any game. they still have oodles of talent all over the field without him and will be able to out talent anyone but maybe Bama and OSU.

Agree. Let him sit until the SEC championship at soonest. That's seven weeks. Somebody from the West might back into that game with three losses so he might not even be needed for that game.

No way Bowers plays another snap for UGA. He's a Top 10 draft pick and would be crazy to risk that big payday (which he deserves).
That’s not how players at UGA have handled things recently. Jalen Carter and George Pickens both came back to finish their seasons even though they were NFL draft locks.

I’ve heard several opinions stating that Bowers is done playing with UGA bc of this injury bc of his assured draft status. While I do see the validity in this opinion, I might disagree.

I think it depends of GA’s status when Brock gets close to 90-100%. If GA falters in his absence and doesn’t reach the Playoff, perhaps Brock misses the Bowl game. However, if GA makes the SEC championship game and Brock can play even at 80%, I’m 100% sure he will suit up.
If you’ve been paying attention the last three seasons you will agree with this likely.

I’ll also say this, it’s true that Ga has tons of talent to make up for this loss. Delp, Spurlin, Luckie all have great potential. We’ve also got more than a few receivers that could potentially step up and make a huge difference in the passing game. Yet, the following is also true

A player like Bowers can’t be replaced! You folks have seen what this guy brings to the table just like I have. It’s a very big deal losing him and this loss can’t be overstated. GA does have a very good team and may very well overcome this loss, I’ve hopes that this happens. But it’s certainly not just plug and play without Bowers.

We will see, I very much appreciate the classy posts from the great CFB fans here on Volnation!!!
