Brad Stevens

If we get Stevens I can't imagine where we will be in a year or three.

Yep and what's cool about bball over football is you can become great with 1 class unlike football where you need a lot of good players. If our next coach can keep our recruits, hopson and Harris we could be even better next year.

Name me one legend coaching at a mid major?

thats correct. mid major schools are a place to start at, not finish at. brad stevens wont be at butler much longer i say. butler wont be able to keep him becasue they cant match the money some other schools will soon offer.

if Arkansas can get Mike Anderson. Anderson told the hogs a bunch of times he was staying in Missouri but they didn't take no for an answer.

would take 2.5 to 3 million which we will not pay for him. he is worth it, but we won't go higher than what Dooley makes

Stevens will not leave Indy.

Hey I am a firm believer in money talks....Everybody is for sale....Everybody...If you have his asking price then he'll be here...But UT has to open those pockets and go after him....Forget what Dooley makes and do what is best for the basketball program....Stevens could be UT's guy for a long long time and build something special here.

Brad Stevens can live like a king at Butler until he dies. A school would have to give him the keys to Gen Neyland's secret layer for him to come here. Or for him to leave for that matter. Pretty soon with all that final 4 money Butler will have to break out the cash too.

Butler's AD budget for last season - $11 million.....TOTAL

Tennessee's - $71M

You know, we keep hearing that Hammy is a world-class fund raiser. Well, prove it, Big Pimpin'.

We also hear a lot about how Tennessee is one of only 19 schools whose AD turned a proffit. What's the use of having it, if you won't spend it?!?

We just paid Pearl $2M to leave - but won't pay Stevens $3M to come?

Absolute nonsense.

I think Dooley is going to do well, but let's face it, to date he's a 23-27 career coach and Stevens has 2 final fours at butler. That fairly ridiculous logic that leads to a average athletic dept if we wont go after him for that reason alone.

Some posters act like we are trying to hire coach K from duke or something. Stevens is at butler for god sakes. He might not come here but he will go somewhere in the near future.

I see no problem in Paying Stevens up to $3 mil. I like the job that Dooley is doing so far, but he isn't a proven coach just yet. Stevens has made it to the final four 2 years in a row, he deserves that kind of money. That doesn't mean Dooley wont earn big money in the future here at Tennessee, he hasn't earned it yet. I will be pleased if we at least make an offer for Stevens. If he says no, then so be it, but the fans want to see at least some sort of effort made to get him here.

A good run in the tournament doesnt translate into recruiting success at a higher level institution.
i would normally agree with you, especially with all that talk about shaka smart. however, back to back final fours means you can flat out. you don't necessarily have to have an amazing recruiting class. just be able to mold what you get into hard working winners.

He aint talking logic. He's talking fact. He's not arguing, he's reporting. I can't read his mind, but I believe he shares your opinion and is disgusted.

If Stevens would come here for 3 million and we aren't willing to pay it, then I would like o find every big wig at Tennessee and punch him OR HER in the nose.

Why pump millions into TBA and then refuse to put the extra 2 million per a year into a coach that would make it rock?

Two final fours in a row with Butler, yeah i'd say open the checkbook up and let him fill in the amount.

Oh, I know he's reporting. He's one of the very few people on here whose word I take as gospel truth.

Still stupid logic by the powers that be at UT. Not that I am really shocked by it. But that mindset is how you have a crappy organization, I don't care what it is.
