Brad Stevens

They can go for him, but he strikes me as someone who's waiting for a ready-made situation that he can walk into. Either that or a team that's almost there. His stock has never been higher and he's turned Butler into a force that will continue to win as long as he's there. There's no rush for him to get out while the getting's good. I bet he's got a short list of schools that he's willing to coach for and unless we're one of those schools or willing to grossly overpay for his services, we're SOL.

I am willing to overpay

Well, looks like we're gonna have to grossly overpay.

Haha, I wish we had that much to spend

The basketball program's net revenue in 2010 was 9.4M minus Pearl's salary. There's no way that happens, but UT could do it if they really wanted.

If we want immediate success we need Stevens. Not only will he keep our recruiting class intact, but also keep Harris and Hopson in place. He would do wonders for our basketball program. He would be the equivalent of the Calipari hire that Kentucky made. Who would have thought he would end up at Kentucky? He initially squashed rumors of going there, but that was before they offered him the big bucks. If we want to put Tennessee basketball back on the mark, then Brad Stevens is the ticket.

Overpay and the building is full = making $. Underpay bring out the big black drapes= costs more money in the long run. No brainer, pay the man.

Unless Hat or LWS know differently, or there has otherwise been a significant change in the Committee's thought process (Read: metanoia not seen since the road to Damascus) - 0.00000000000% chance.

But the few people I know are mostly drunkards who are liars - but they've consistently called it not only implausible, but impossible.

Maybe someone else knows more, and can shed a more favorable light on it, but I cannot.

Who is the committee again?

You know what I'd do - and I am actually serious - if anyone feels this strongly about it, and what's make their opinion at least be heard: email those involved in the search or who could influence it (if they chose to do so).

Hamilton, Blackburn, Cheek, Haslam, Pratt - they're emails are easily obtainable, I would think. Write to local media, too.

Is it likely to help? Almost certainly not, at least individually. But if they get enough, who knows (still unlikely - but where's the harm?) ?

If you want to make your feelings known, now is definitely the time to do it - not afterwards.

Hat mentioned that we had people in San Antonio last night watching Mooney. Does anyone know if we have the same following Stevens? That might tell the tale, so to speak - especially if they are not.

if Arkansas can get Mike Anderson. Anderson told the hogs a bunch of times he was staying in Missouri but they didn't take no for an answer.

Mike Anderson to UA was a little different considering he spent 17 years in Fayetteville as Nolan's #2. He wanted the job in 2002, but UA wouldn't hire him then because he had no experience as a HC. Now he has 9 years of decent success under his belt and it was a perfect time for him to come home (Anderson's words at his press conference this morning).

What coach doesn't always say they're staying while at the same time theiy're lifting their skirt for somebody else? Besides, Anderson couldn't visit with UA until Mizzou granted permission, and Mizzou wouldn't grant permission until they went through their own extension negotiations with Jimmy Sexton - Anderon's agent.

I really think UT will get a solid coach, but he might be young. Pearl certainly elevated the whole program and made it attractive despite the NCAA questions. UT will be fine.

I agree, if we get Stevens I think we keep our recruits and probaly Harris and hopson IMO

I have not seen where he has said he would not come to Tennessee. Just a lot of people making statements based on their negative feelings.

Enact a state income tax to pay him.

Shut down martin.

Rename TBA stevens coliseums.

Do it. Get him.

OK No matter what we have to make this guy an offer. Make him tell Tennessee no. Hamilton if you wanna make a big splash go after him. This guy can coach. He has less talent than most of the teams he plays. Florida has a lot more talent. And Butler beat them. Love to see him coaching the Vols.

Stevens would be a great hire. Looks like he would get carded if he tried to buy a beer, but he would be an awesome hire. Would also give a huge lift in basketball coaching prestige in the SEC.

He has no reason to leave Butler. Back to back final fours is incredible. If Stevens wants to make a name for himself as a young coach, he will stay at Butler and keep winning. He won't come here to rebuild.

Name me one legend coaching at a mid major?

Brad Stevens can live like a king at Butler until he dies. A school would have to give him the keys to Gen Neyland's secret layer for him to come here. Or for him to leave for that matter. Pretty soon with all that final 4 money Butler will have to break out the cash too.
