Same complaints about Nashville as well
Definitely.

Similarly, my buds and I used to visit Asheville NC back in 90's. Bele Chere was still a thing. Now it's solely shows at a graffittied dead end in River Arts. Still a fun place to visit.

Wife and I lived there in 11&12, but unless you're a rich kid working service jobs, professional, or a rich halfbacker you work to survive.

All the 'artsy fartsy' cool stuff is for show anyway.

I personally prefer one permanent game and the other 8 games rotate yearly. It gives a 4 year player a chance to play in every stadium.

I think Nashville was at its peak from 2005-2015. That said, all of the “It Cities” have sorta faded. I’m not sure what the heir apparent are now. Some have suggested Memphis is poised to get there, but we’ll see.
Broadway when it was a bit raw and scuzzy was a wonderful place. Now it's a bunch of homogenized crap playing brain candy covers outside of a few holdouts.

I don’t see the league having 3 permanent rivals. They already indicated an unhappiness that non permanent teams are playing so rarely and 3 permanent games makes this continue.

Plus permanent rival games is why UGA has had a fairly soft schedule compared to others. I see pods coming down the pike with 1 permanent rival outside the pod maybe. I’m not fond of the unbalanced 9 game schedule but feel that is almost a certainty now.

I think it will depend on alignment with OOC games.

If you go to 9 conference schedule, the 3-6-6 works for every team. Most teams have really 3 main rivals. You get to keep that. You also get to play teams every other year and play home and home over 4 year period. That means you see teams way more regularly.

There have been posts on the 3 permanent teams for every school and it sets up fairly well.

Not going to happen.

Tennessee's 3 permanent rivals will be Bama (3 Saturday), Vandy (in-state SEC Rival), and Kentucky (most played Rival). The other 6 games will be rotational with other SEC teams. That's one tough team, one medium team and one cellar dweller.... good balance.
I like what you say, however I would remove Vandy, can't be a money maker or for the most part a game that that can improve the standing of our program. I know this seems like asking for trouble, but I would insert Ga. for Vandy..

You also have to look at this from the SEC's perspective.

A) They're going to give every team its #1 rival. For Vanderbilt, that's Tennessee. For Kentucky, that's Tennessee. For Tennessee, that's Alabama. The "secondary" rivals will take a lesser priority. Florida is not Tennessee's #1 and Tennessee is not Florida's #1 (that's Georgia). Tennessee is not Georgia's #1 (that's Florida) and Georgia is not Tennessee's #1. The Tennessee-Florida and Tennessee-Georgia rivalries weren't rivalries until divisions made them so in the 90's.

B) They're not going to eliminate any instate rivalry. Vanderbilt and Tennessee will play every year.

True. But for people who live here, it's less about the country music stuff (yes, it plays a role) as it is about the neighborhoods. So many landmark buildings, businesses, and restaurants in Nashville have closed. So many great, old buildings have been torn down and so many character-filled areas have been replaced with stale, formulaic, tall-skinnies and modern buildings. So yeah, in that sense, it reflects what's happened with the music.

That's an excellent description, fits Austin perfectly as well.
