I don't get the "I support it but you should hide it" stance.

Textbook case of taking a stand with no forethought, realizing that there should've been some forethought, pride kicks in, attempt to rationalize a stand that can be rationalized, pride takes over, foolishness confirmed.

I've explained this more than a few times ITT. If you're too lazy to read it, then I'm not posting it again.

You haven't really explained WHY you don't want to see it? Is it the act itself? Is it a moral issue of a woman exposing her breast briefly?

Sex objects? Breasts main purpose are for feeding a child, period.

Let me put this as simple as I can. I believe that breastfeeding should be done in private, if possible, due to the fact that I believe its something that bonds the mother and child and that no one or situation should interrupt that. That being said, I understand that sometimes things don't workout like they should, and breastfeeding babies get hungry while they are out and about. If you must feed them in public, I believe that doing so with some discretion is good practice. People also use pumps to get milk for use while they are out, and that milk will keep long enough to feed them on the run. I realize that not all breastfeeding babies will take a bottle, so all that needs to be done is to cover up the feeding and move along with your business. So, feeding in public has nothing to do with bonding, just the necessity of feeding itself. There are people who just don't want to see it, and it has nothing to do with thinking of it as a sexual thing, they just don't want to see it. I have no idea why that is so hard for some to understand that some people have no desire to see uncovered breastfeeding in public. So, by all means, feed your child if it needs to be fed, just don't expect that everyone feels its such a beautiful thing to watch in public, because not everyone does, but that shouldn't stop someone from doing what needs to be done, and it also shouldn't make you think any less of the other person who doesn't want to see it.
there are plenty of things I don't want to see but I don't whine and complain about seeing it. I just look somewhere else.

Wasn't it one of the great philosophers, Socrates, Plato or maybe me that once said;

Any day you see an unexpected boob is a good day....

No, you have explained over and over THAT you don't want to see it. You have not explained WHY you don't want to see it.

"I just think she should cover up" does not offer your reasoning.

You think he owes you an explanation? Does he need to keep you abreast of everything?

He doesn't owe me anything, but he's voluntarily participating in this conversation just like everyone else.

You, however, owe all of us an apology for a terrible pun.

Change of approach. For everyone this bothers, exactly why does it bother you?

They can't answer honestly because they've perverted the practice by attaching a sexual undertone to it and it makes them feel creepy being turned on by a practice which involves an infant. Therefore they try to deflect and say, "nasty titty," "its gross," "its offensive."

Ironically, most have an addiction to pornography but are "OUTRAGED!" at the possibility of seeing a nipple.

Apparently they cant explain it. "It just does".

Yep, it's the "because I said so" debate winner.

Of course you don't see reasoning, because you aren't looking for it. You're looking for an excuse to stir the pot.

Literally, all you've said is "I don't want to see it." That's it. If you'd actually offered a reasoning in the two years this thing has been running, you'd just repeat it rather than linking to nonsense or saying "I've said it and I'm not gonna say it again."

Whoever mentioned the generation gap earlier is completely right. When my first son was born in 1991 my ex-husband's grandmother is the one who told me when we went to visit her, "You don't have to go to the bedroom to feed him. If they (talking about my brother-in-laws and my father-in-law) don't wanna see it they can go to the porch". She was as old-fashioned as they come, too.

Breasts aren't shown in public as a general rule. It's how our society is (as compared to some European countries). We're taught modesty, cover yourself up. A movie that shows a woman's breasts is usually rated R. Breasts aren't normal viewing.

It isn't shocking to me to think some people are uncomfortable seeing a woman breastfeeding. I understand being uncomfortable. But it IS shocking to me that anyone finds it "nasty" or "offensive".
