Brown or Mompremiere

Thanks Chris. I'll check back after my meeting to read about the good news! (Tryna stay optimistic LOL)

A part of me does too but im tryna keep hope lol. If she really wants to win a national title and play in front of 11k per night she'd pick the Big Orange. I mean this year's freshmen, plus Diamond and Mercedes next year. Not to mention Te'a and MeMe. Omg. There would be plenty of playing time for her! I hope we get her and Beatrice!

Not a surprise to me knew that her parents were big La Tech people and had a relationship with Mulkey and Barmore. If we don't get Mompremier then 2016 has to be a post class. We do not even know if Russell will be ready to go then you have her , Moore, and Graves. An injury and your playing small ball.

I wish she chose Tennessee but i've always felt that she would choose Baylor so i'm not surprised by her decision, i wish her well.

We must get Mompremier! i'm not confident about us getting those three top ranked Posts from the 2016 class.

Apparently she wanted to go to Baylor since 6th grade. Has nothing to do with whiffing

You might be right but at this point its obvious that our program in no longer an elite recruiting one. We are just one of the good not great programs and there is no reason to believe this is going to change.

If you think we are the force on the recruiting trail we once were I don't know what to say. We used to have a load of top 10 kids on our team but that just isn't the case anymore. But maybe you're right and I have missed this 6 year run of final fours.

Missing the Final Four is something Lady Vol fans don't want to see, but the team hates it just as much. But, have you seen either of the two games played so far? There is no doubt that Holly has filled needs on this squad. I remember a few years ago where the Lady Vols signed six highly ranked players who played well, but not well enough.

I realize that the two games played were Carson Newman and Penn, but there was a cohesiveness not recently seen with the Lady Vols. The team tonight committed only 8 turnovers - 8! The freshmen played 32, 25 and 26 minutes respectively and committed exactly 0 turnovers as a group, while each scored in double figures. Are they going to be able to do the same when we play a Texas or Rutgers or Stanford? I don't know. But I do know that I'm not nearly as worried as I have been in the past couple of years. Recruiting was done to fill needs and not simply to get the highest ranked players available. And a good job was done, despite your negative view. Did Brown turn us down? Obviously. But, the vast majority predicted her to Baylor months ago and nothing really changed in the interim except for the fact that Holly kept the Lady Vols in the Picture until the very end. Now Mompremier is on the cusp. Her decision is expected Tuesday. According to common wisdom she is down to two schools and Tennessee is one of them. The fact that we have Russell coming back and Graves for another year alongf with emergence of Nia Moore may have her choosing a different school, but, if so, that hardly means Holly and the staff have failed or that the Lady Vols are in a downward spiral in recruiting. Having three top ten classes in three years is pretty darn good by anyone's standards.

I suggest you watch the play rather than checking the rankings. This group of freshmen might surprise you.

There is a difference between negativity and realism. We have not had the difference makers in the program that we used to have. We have a lot of really good players but no difference makers. DeShields can be one but I don't see the supporting cast to make us elite. We are in the top 5 % of programs but we used to be in the top !%. South Carolina is passing us by in Conference and we aren't close to UCONN (ugh), Notre Dame, Stanford, and frankly it looks like Louisville is about to pass us. We can't beat Baylor without Griner.

What a surprise, Holly whiffs again.

**cue the "we didn't need her anyway" apologists**

Really, dude? If a player doesn't want to come to your school, there's nothing you can do. Blaming her for every recruit they don't get is ridiculous. No one can get every player they want.

A lot of the problem with bigs in the last class is their location in the country. It was huge for the Lady Vols to land Russell who lived way off in Oregon. We got Moore because she had a previous relationship with Jolette Law. We usually win if the player is in our general location like Graves haven't been a lot of bigs around our area lately.

...we aren't close to UCONN (ugh), Notre Dame, Stanford...

Recruiting has changed. Pat couldn't/wouldn't change with it (Momma's purses!) and Holly is a Pat disciple so no one should expect any different.

The Lady Vols don't have the school cachet of ND or Stanford and are never going to "go the extra mile" and play in the gray areas like Geno and Saban (and Mulkey) are willing to do until they get a new coach not in the Pat tree. And that's not likely to happen for a long long time.

So get used to (relative) mediocrity, it's easier than holding on to the past.

I'm sure some of our recruiting issues came from the transition from Pat to Holly, but I think the real problem right now is Dawn Staley. If it wasn't for her and South Carolina we would probably have a couple more top recruits. She came along at just the right time. More than Geno, ND, or Baylor, I would suggest that South Carolina is hurting our recruiting process.
