Especially the guy he was working for. As bad as KO hated him, I always cringe at what would have happened if any of Dickey's three failed attempts to hire Tim Floyd had been successful. Tim might have felt compelled to simply kill Dumbass Doug.He settled for the pathetic Northwestern job over the pathetic UT job he held. What does that tell you about the situation?
Yes that is how you rationalize it. Is it complete BS? Yes.
Let's take a look at it this way. His third year at TN was no better than his first. His 3rd year at northwestern was a disaster. He hasn't been able to stick on for 3 years anywhere else other than a decent run at Marquette approximately 20 years ago.

Yes, then, among other things, proceeded to renege on a contract extension, refuse to clear Isiah Victor to play, and instruct KO to throw Ray Mears off the team bus to the Georgia game. I can't imagine why the relationship went south.Wasn't he the one who hired your brilliant KO?

Here's the thing I love about it all. The bashing of the NBA GM and the ADs that supposedly "dicked" O'Neill. You do realize that the GM and ADs hired him? There is a common theme about O'Neill's tenure outside of his mediocrity, and that is for the most part only bad ADs and GMs hire him.

Fine. O'Neill sucks.
How is it that he never seems to have trouble finding a high profile job? Are NBA GMs and PAC 10 athletic directors hiring him because of his winning personality and easy manner in fitting into an organizational structure?
That has not ever been the situation with Green or Fulmer. I doubt you will see Arizona or USC offering Pearl anytime soon, either. If he's so awful, what gives?
I'm sure this is sarcasm, but being honest, Fulmer has a National Championship. O'Neill's trophy case has one piece from the Great Midwest Conference.
Your boy better control his woman or he will be unemployed. Night before a conference tourney game that could decide my NCAA tourney fate? Let's get drunk and yell at boosters of other schools.
Yes, if Bruce is fired and doesn't work for the next 10-15 years, O'Neill may end up with an equal winning percentage. Although history doesn't appear to be working in his favor.

Anyone that knows anything about basketball knows how good of a coach KO is. That's why people throw all these excellent situations at him. Wait no? Hmmm. He's lucky to have gotten the jobs he's had due to his 2 decade string of mediocrity.
