Bruce Pearl is a better basketball coach than Kevin O'Neill

Well, his tenure led directly to 4 years of relevance and NCAA tourney appearances. Perhaps you would like to argue that Jerry Green was some kind of coaching messiah?

It's an easier argument than arguing for O'Neill.

So you don't think UWM at best was a below average program with below average talent? Their prior years suggest otherwise.

They were, then Ryan got there, then Pearl continued with what Ryan left him. Does Pearl deserve the bulk of the credit? Yes. Did Bo Ryan leave him in a position that is in any way comparable to what KO got at UT? Hell no.

Tex Winter at Northwestern 44-87.
Bill Foster at Northwestern 54-141.
Kevin O'Neill at Northwestern 30-56.

Funny, his tenure did no such thing. You want to discredit Pearls wins and give O'Neill credit for someone else's. It doesn't work that way.

Where did I discredit Pearl's wins? Please show me. Hell, I just said he deserves most of the credit for the UWM job.

Also, would you care to tell me who recruited those players Jerry Green won with in his first year?

If he had something else to fall back on, I'd give him a pass. He has one season at Marquette and 13 other mediocre ones.

Who recruited the players Kevin o'neill lost with in his 3rd year?

Who recruited the players sitting around at 19-14 with in Pearl's sixth season? How does that stack up with O'Neill's record in his second year at USC?

Yes, if you take an above average year for O'Neill and Bruce's worst year coaching. Bruce's season is only slightly better.

I totally see where you are coming from now, I mean, god knows how little talent Pearl had this year compared to O'Neill. Not to mention the gauntlet-like SEC schedule.

That doesn't make it right.

I'm not sure what anyone would see in Green that would make you believe that he is better than anybody, at anything.

I disagree. He excelled at flailing both arms, limp wristedly, in the direction of the refs. I still don't know how he changed pillowcases either.

Butch Davis won. This doesn't apply.

What does apply? Kevin took over a program in the dregs of the conference. He put it on firm enough footing that an incompetent scarecrow like Jerry Green could win with it.

Bruce has had a lot of success at UT. It appears that the price for that will be the roof caving in at any moment.

Why is O'Neill's record in his third season at the worst BCS basketball school in the nation so important to you?
