Poster on TOS just said Slive was interviewed on 104.5. Said that he based Pearl's suspension on "established fact" and once "established fact" was decided in the Newton case he would do the same thing. Also, said this is the first year he has had the ability to suspend a coach, and Pearl is his first one.

not disagreeing with his actions on Pearl, but I just imagine Slive never being sure of "established fact" with SCAM.

Also read one of the things the NCAA usually does for lieing is they suspend the coach or in some way have the coach fired. Maybe Slivee is on his game on this one with the suspension.

I think Slive's decsion lets UT know they do not have to fire Pearl. I think the NCAA, at worse, will ban us from 2011-2012 post season. However, from reading on TOS, this may be the end of the punishments.

ANYONE else would have been fired ASAP!
Pearl has been great for UT......but facts are facts......UT (and Bruce) were lucky!

Move on and thank the luck stars this is the worst!

So we just throw out two million and see what big name
and proven coach grabs the hook. When we first hired Pearl and the first thing he did was kick our best big off the team I thought he was out of his mind. When we gave him a big raise after the first year I thought we should have been more patient and wait to see if he could coach or if his first year was just a fluke. He has proved he can coach and the man really loves Tennessee.
He is the best coach we have had in the more than fifty
years I have been going to watch Tennessee basketball.
