Somewhere down in Central Florida Gus Malzahn is smiling at the mess Auburn has created for themselves. You beat Bama every other year and you’ll still get fired there. No coach worth their salt or in their right mind would take that meat grinder of a job … maybe for an astronomical amount of money.
Stepping into a mess like that... he would not survive either. Harsin doesn't suck. In fact he has a pretty good resume prior to Auburn. But it takes more than a good coach to change a program, AD, and culture. UT has demonstrated how you do that right... and how fast it can work when you have that kind of alignment. There is no evidence Auburn has that.Sure it would. He will never win a title at Ole Miss. Money and recruiting being the biggest hurdles. He will get all the NIL money he needs and recruiting would be far easier.
It wouldn’t make sense for him, because he is not a better coach than Gus, and we all know how that went. I honestly doubt that he’s as good a coach as Harsin. There are reasons why Ole Miss was his only option.Sure it would. He will never win a title at Ole Miss. Money and recruiting being the biggest hurdles. He will get all the NIL money he needs and recruiting would be far easier.

Pat Haden is a really nice guy who fired Kiffin in medieval fashion. His exit from Auburn would be an episode for the ID channel. He is very Harbaugh like in regards to making people dislike him.Recruiting doesn't matter as much now that the portal is a hot commodity. Everyone made big deal of him and another SEC school only recruiting like 10-15 guys so they could fill the rest of the spots with portal guys.
Of course if he keeps winning at Ole Miss to tune of 9 to 10 wins routinely, recruiting will take off. The problem for Kiffin is if he is able to allow himself to stay situated.
The Auburn job offers him no real incentive over Ole Miss in current form. Especially as long as Auburn's Booster turmoil is still happening.
Urban Myer could be the guy. I don’t know if he would want it, but they should put on a press the way Alabama did for Saban. You have to think they kick the tires on Urban Meyer, just to make him say no. Hugh Freeze? I don't know. Is he redeemable? Kiffin? Possibly.
I'll be honest, Heupel's success has made me rethink the importance of the "splash" or "sexy" hire and instead possibly consider the right hire. If I were Auburn, I would take a hard look at Kansas' head coach or possibly Kansas State's. Both of them would be very solid hires IMO.
