You have to think they kick the tires on Urban Meyer, just to make him say no. Hugh Freeze? I don't know. Is he redeemable? Kiffin? Possibly.

I'll be honest, Heupel's success has made me rethink the importance of the "splash" or "sexy" hire and instead possibly consider the right hire. If I were Auburn, I would take a hard look at Kansas' head coach Leipold or possibly Kansas State's coach Klieman. Both of them would be very solid hires IMO.
I think Hardin was considered a solid hire at the time. Definitely not sexy.

So now we know why KY was so unprepared, Stoops was interviewing last week.

Harsin was a joke.....maybe not as big as Pruitt, but still a joke.

I don't think Harsin is a bad coach; just a terrible fit at Auburn. He's spent almost literally his entire career in the Pacific NW and most of it at a very well established Boise State program. He never made any sense at Auburn.

That said, he got his Auburn retirement package and now he's free to do what he wants the rest of his life. Good for him!

I'm not really sure of anyone from their roster UT would want. The few that could make a difference are upperclassmen. I wish Bigsby had chosen to transfer to UT but that's past.

Other than Cobb, I really don't see any recruit that UT would be interested in stealing.
If Tank Bigsby enters the portal he should be UT's number 1 priority. Would be a monster in our offense.

They coming for Heupel.

LOL. Why would anyone think the 'recruiting pool' is better at Auburn than Tennessee?

At best, Auburn is similar to us. But Auburn is 2nd fiddle in its own state and UT also has better access to the Carolinas and Virginia. Don't really see a recruiting "advantage" of being at Auburn vs UT. Maybe LSU or Georgia. Not Auburn.

Auburn is sitting in a football hotbed due to sabans continued enfluence down there. it's really a furtile recruting ground. That being said, all of that goes out the window with NIL.

Auburn trying to convince the next head coach they hire the boosters wont be a probem: "Just don't lose to teams who have had more stability and talent than us in your first season, and the boosters wont spread rumors about you cheating on your wife."

Don’t think his comp is Pruitt due to no displays of lack of character. Maybe closer to Dooley or Jones. Probably Jones.

I have no idea what to think of Harsin. Auburn killed any chance of him being successful in the offseason.

Funny enough, Boise is trash now and they look likely to can their coach. Would be funny if Harsin just got 10-15 million just to take 2 year vacation from Boise
