Can you take off your partisan hat for just a minute and look at the logic of what they did?

UT has had no "swagger" on the field or in recruiting for awhile. They've pretty much been in retreat trying to play the nice guy. I think Fulmer might have been effected by the whole Bama thing more than people know... none the less, UT wasn't aggressive or really considered a threat by LSU, UF, UGA, Bama, etc.

In about 3 months, CLK has managed to get in the heads of Meyer and Miles and to a lesser extent Saban, Richt, and Spurrier. If you were his advisor, isn't that exactly what you would have had him do?

At least in recruiting, no SEC coach can feel comfortable with a commit while CLK is still calling... and they have to wonder why he isn't calling if he stops. It takes time and resources to protect a commit... which is time and resources that can't be devoted to stealing UT's recruits or winning the next commit.

He's on the offensive. Ever watch the movie "Patton"? He never wanted to go on the defensive... never give up the initiative. That's the kind of "war strategy" CLK and staff are using.

But I must point out that Saban never did this kind of thing at LSU, building it up..He just worked, focus on LSU not calling other programs out etc..

Kiffin's antics, are they by design to get UT in the news or is he being a bone head for calling out Urban as a cheater, or calling a kid who will pump gas in SC, or getting Jackson to lie, so you can bag Myles Jr too, as well as Nuke to lie to UF coaches'? come on now... This has become an all out war, one your not prepared for just yet.

He called out UF? Guaranteed a victory in Gainesville, "get ready" Gezzzz You realized they have about 8 years of better classes than UT at this point...? That is a lot of catch up, and UF will just continue to pile in talent..

You can be aggressive without embarrassing UT on ESPN...Win , just win, let that do your talking...

Right now, the entire world is eager to watch Kiffin fall on his face... People don't like arrogance and cocky mixed with a bunch of folly...he is a good looking guy, rich and has the UT job at age 33...largely in part because of his dad's success...let's be honest here.. he hasn't done jack, but run his mouth so far. I think this is where we start to see some of the method behind Kiffin's madness over the past few months. These young kids love the fact that their coach isn't afraid to mix it up, and that he has all the confidence in the world in not only his own ability, but theirs as well.

I challenge you to find ANYWHERE where CLK "guaranteed" a win against ANYONE. Its comments like that, that get BS rumors started. He was JOKING in his initial press conference when he said the whole singing rocky top through the night when we beat UF next year. He even laughed and said the AD made him say it, and said "Sorry Urban". That is a classic example of just hearing what you want to, and not what was actually said.

Doesn't matter how many players they signed, A first year coach with only 3 months to recruit came up with a better class than CUM. That is impressive no matter how you look at it.

I realize that Kiffin has put UT squarely in the bullseye, but if you think for one second that Meyer, Spurrier, Richt and Saban wouldn't hang 50 on the Vols without Kiffin's comments you're kidding yourself. CLK has engergized the players recruits and fans.

Also, in your "facts" you include much unverified information such as the "pumping gas comments" and getting Jackson to lie so he could bag Myles. Myles came when Monte called as will a bunch of defensive recruits over the next couple of years. Anything else was pure speculation from your message boards.

I will be happy when CLK gets his first SEC win, but until then I will take the swagger and energy he brings.

I couldn't believe it either,...He said "when we beat Florida this year, it's going to be fun, get ready"

Ok, that's just shy of a guarantee,

Now, what he should say is, "we're going to work really hard to be competitive, when you look at our schedule, it isn't easy, like UF in gainesville this year, 2 time champs, talented, well coached, brutal...but I promise we will leave it all on the field, we will compete"

That's coach speak 101...Urban is going to teach him the hard way...It's a fundamental and moral truth....

Vol Nation will likely be glad to hear that the next Oregon v. UT argument will require considerably less space, and far-less verbiage.

It'll go something like this:

2. Brown
3. March 16th, 2009
4. Done.

In all honesty, while Wheaton and the rest were somewhat out of place here, they share the same passion that we pride ourselves on, only for Oregon instead of the Orange.

That they have hung on this site for almost two months, and considering everything that has been thrown at them (fairly and unfairly) speaks to the pride which they have in their team - and most everyone will respect them for that effort, if for nothing else.

Even now, after having suffered back-to-back post-NSD heartbreakers (Pryor last season, Brown this year), Oregon is unquestionably a program on the upswing, and barring the unforseen, should only continue to get better and better. If the tenacity and desire of their fans even somewhat rubs off onto their players, I think that it could continue to happen much sooner than most imagine IMO.

While lost in the heat of the argument, it's easy to make one school "great" and the other "crap" - and that's really not the case, at least in a comparison between Oregon and Tennessee.

Amidst the celebration of landing Brown, I just wanted to tip the proverbial cap to a worthy foe who fought a valiant fight, now that the fog of war has begun to fade.
