Bryce Thompson out - potentially

It’s really easy when it’s your opponent to let emotion skew your judgment of this on what you think someone’s punishment should be. If he played for Bama everyone on here would likely be calling for him to be kicked off the team. Yet when he is your player you want to give the guy a break. The reality is we all get too caught up in the tribalism of sports and forget to look at these players as people who need someone to believe in them and guide them through life just like all of us did. We should all be better people and I personally believe we have a ball coach and an AD who cares about helping these young guys develop into men. I personally feel like consequences are an absolute. Just like any person needs. The older you get the heavier the consequence. But kicking a kid off the team stripping him of all the resources he worked his tail off to get too would be about the most devastating thing one could do to help him grow and mature. I trust our leadership in Fulmer and Pruitt to handle this as they see fit.

He literally did not touch anyone.

I would not want him kicked off any team.

The easiest way to know what is the right outcome would be to imagine this exact same story came out but instead of Tennessee this was a kid at Florida or Bama. Arrested for domestic assault? But there was no physical violence? What would you expect another team should do? I don't know but the fact he was actually taken into custody is fairly damning.

So basically, all this is because he got in a screaming match with his girl, and busted a door. Get him some anger managment, have him run some steps, and make him pay for/fix the door. Done and Done.

That would work 20 years ago, but not today

To hell with that. Everyone on this board has said something in anger that they wish they hadn't. He's a human being with flaws, frailties and a temper. He took his frustration out on an inanimate object not the girl. This idea he should sit for a quarter of the season is just nuts. I'd have him run a few sprints and tell him to pay for the damages and find a new gal. 3 games? For this? No damned way.

And if I read the story correctly, she's not exactly without fault in all this. One report has her making accusations of cheating on his part. Now, I don't know about the women in your life, but when things go down that road, it's very unlikely that she was calm, polite and reserved when she made the accusations. Most women are...well...just a little agitated under these circumstances.

If I had to guess, I'd say both young folk were a little on edge and testy with one another. It's human nature. No reason to take this and make a national incident out of it. Seriously, not a day goes by in this country without an untold number of couples fighting and saying things they regret.
Anger is never an acceptable emotion to use when speaking to a woman.

There is never any reason to physically assault any object around a woman.

Women should always be believed and agreed with.

AJ Johnson thinks that we should let the legal process play out. Doesn't appear that anyone was hurt. Probably needs to make better choices in his future words and actions.

You have no clue. Maliek Gray transferred because he wasn’t going to play. Chris Steele did not transfer for that reason.

UT has had 2 players now who have been charged with something and right now, both are still on the team. UF had multiple players not qualify this year. If you think it’s ghe same, good for you. No chance to help you.

Believe what you want. I don’t care. Keep justifying why it’s happening. No need to continue to argue with you.

Who’s arguing?

You’re the case study for exactly what I’m talking about. My transfers and arrests are a-okay because they’re from MY team, your transfers and arrests are way worse because they’re from YOUR team. Steele transferred because he was homesick, your guy transferred because he didn’t like his spot on the depth chart. They’re both still transfers. 😂

And UT has had 3 arrests in the last 13 months, not two.

Outstanding post, this is exactly what I was trying to say, but you articulated it much better than I.

So far I’ll take the culture Pruitt is building over the one Mullen is building.
