Policy or whatever aside, if the school believes there's even an ounce of potential for that kind of violence (and I doubt that) kicking him out or even off the team, would be the dumbest possible move.

Him or anyone like, needs resources, help and structure. Kicking him out would be the equivalent of firing the 'disgruntled employee'. Hope they're not that foolish and instead invest in getting him help.

The good thing is he apparently did not hit anyone, and the girlfriend said he has hit a wall in the past, but apparently not her, so he seems to have the presence of mind to not hit someone when angry. The bad thing is the "shooting up the school" comment, you just can't say something like that in the current environment. Assuming we have the whole story, if they can determine that the "shooting" comment was just an angry response with no actual intent, and it is a first time issue, he MIGHT get another chance with suspensions and counseling, payment for damages, but if they believe there was any validity or actual intent with the "shooting" statement, he will be gone, probably expelled. If he is retained, Pruitt will have to make it clear to him that there will not be another chance.

Imagine the law suit if he did shoot up the school and they didn’t act on this.

What about the Law suits if they do act on this send him on his way or force him into anger management classes and ....he still shoots up the place.....cause if he decides to do so you can't stop a highly motivated dangerous individual with out equal force.

They said they “were sure” Thompson won’t play this Saturday and if the “shoot up the school threat” was real that he might not play again.

Most believe the charges will be dropped and Thompson could possibly play Saturday. In terms of the "shoot up" comment he supposedly made, the direct witness his GF couldn't remember him saying that so at this point it's hearsay from a witness who didn't see Thompson but could some how identify him.

He said this won’t be a Pruitt or Fulmer decision.
He said the University will decide what punishment is merited for the “shoot up the school”.
