BSU VS VT Time: 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 6, FedEx Field (91,704),

This isn't a shot at Boise, but it's not really the same argument. The Utah game was a weak attempt at consolation for Bama in that situation. Going from 13-0 to playing a powerhouse to the title to a bowl game which meant a whole lot more to one team than the other.

Scoreboard.

If they didn't show up for that game, all it means is that team was mentally weak. Same goes for Brokelahoma when BSU beat them.

let's just agree to disagree

i will

but i'm just going to end by saying here's how it would get changed

you not only need multiple undefeated teams (probably 4), but they all need to be big-time college powers....it's essentially got to be like USC, Texas, Ohio State/Michigan, and Notre dame or Alabama

because of how much money is in the current system, it would not only have to be a pandemonium, but a pandemonium between the biggest of the schools

[possibly.....something that could feasibly result in the biggest of the big teams - with the top fanbases - all being pissed and in arms....feasibly to boycott games or bowl games, but i'm not sure how it would get that far]

boise getting left out (if it happens; or even being involved) won't force this system to change; it would probably have to hit (and threaten) the schools that bring the most money in the sport

You can say that if you want, but you can't really say that both teams valued the game equally.

Wow
coup;e of bad no-calls there on the last 2 possesions

block in the back, on Boise that didn't get called, and a pass interference on the last play

The block was unquestionably legal. He hit him square in his side as the defender made the turn to chase.

The defender MIGHT have touched the receiver on the last play, but he had his head turned, found the ball and was in perfect position.

He hit him from the side, clearly. Clearly. When you hit a guy from the back he doesn't fall sideways. That is clean every time.

The late hit was obviously late. He stepped out of bounds and kept running after the whistle, but it doesn't mean he's fair game.

Pass interference is also never called on plays where both guys are playing the ball.

If you're going to let one team play physical, you gotta let both. The late hit was just as legal as the clip.

If next week Boise played LSU followed by South Carolina, do they win both?

I'd say the better analogy is the roughing the passer call on Boise where the guy kinda stumbled into the VT QB - it wasn't an intentional hit but according to the rules it was a penalty. Same for the hit OB.

Plus Utah absolutely dominated that game - it was a true arse whoopin.

well boise did pretty much the same thing against OU as well (they were up 28-10 in the 3rd until boise had 2-3 straight drives end in turnovers: fumble, fumble, pick IIRC)

but i use that one more in discussions about "Bob stoops doesn't get his team ready for bowl games"

i dont care against who it is....it feels soooo good to watch virginia tech lose :) :post-4-1090547912: :pepper: :groupwave:

...and this case is going to be empty for another year... n:post-4-1090547912: :post-4-1090547912:

I don't mind anybody taking a shot a Boise. A shot a UT is a whole different story. Boise is just one of the teams I've liked for about 10 years. Probably the underdog thing. I think shots need to be taken at the BCS for the way they leverage the competition. Make sense?
