I don't really have to explain this joke any further, do I? Please don't make meOh it wasn’t a joke. Not even you think that.
Your whiny (and oddly combative) “analysis” in this thread just suggests that you’re a bit out of touch with reality. I usually attribute this kind of take to an anxious fan whose feelings have overwhelmed his reason.
Good recap, agree on all points. I am usually hesitant to draw any significant conclusions at this point in the season, but it's hard to not be impressed with what we've seen so far. At the moment, I legitimately can't think of any on-court complaints I may have. Maybe I'd prefer to yank Zeigler off the court earlier when we have a sufficient lead, but that's a small point. However, that small point speaks to my one overall complaint about the team as a whole - our PG depth has been atrocious for close to two decades. This would have been a year to just take any willing PG for the sake of a body on the roster imo, especially given the new transfer environment. I think there's a real risk of our trajectory nosediving if Zeigler were to miss substantial PT. I just don't understand why we struggle so hard to land PGs, no matter who the coach and team are. That being said, if Zeigler can stay healthy, I have confidence that he can effectively shoulder the load of being the only PG - he's certainly already proved that.
No, what I'm pointing out is that in basketball, even overmatched teams will often have good stretches in the game. Even when they are playing the #1 team. Miami has one bad loss, and a bunch of close losses to really good teams. Who knows where they'll end up. But we beat them worse than anyone else has this year, playing away from home with 7 guys playing most of the minutes. So auburn was better for more than half the game, beat a better team than Miami, and covered the spread during a random game in the middle of November. Sounds like how I described a number 1 team.
Or even possibly, auburn may not have looked like the number 1 team in that performance like how Tennessee didn't look like the #1 against Miami
Sure, it happens. Sounds like from your description auburn dominated a majority of the game and kent had a nice short run.
That's not what happened with us and Miami.
Also kent is 104 NET with Miami 166.
Take the win and move on. No one is going to describe this as a quality win in March.
of course we look like the number 1 team, we are the number 1 team baby! so quit yer bicchinnnn90% of these posts are saying, the #1 team doesn't always look like the number 1 team in a game. Guys, I'm right there with you.
I find it funny though that I say we didn't look like the number 1 team against Miami for 75% of the game, and suddenly I'm a doomsayer.
The thread report is how we looked so good against a mediocre team. I didn't think we looked our best, and there are plenty of reasons for that. I hope Barnes also said "hey, it's not our best game" and point out areas of improvement.
It's OK. We've had a great season and amazing resume. Why does it bother everyone to have a different opinion that for a specific game we didn't look like world beaters?
You opened up this box and carried the conversation for a couple pages, and now you're questioning someone's decision to question you on the premise you created?why are you going off the thread topic? the thread is about the Tennessee game versus Miami
It is true that some are overly sensitive to criticism of the team at times, but the reason that you're getting the combative responses is because your arguments stink as bad as your attitude. I agree with you in that Miami is not good, but it was a dominant win despite the fact that they hung with us some in the first half. You've made a mountain out of that point based on a weak semantic argument. We may not be the absolute clear cut best team in the country, but a child can understand how we earned the de facto #1 ranking. You're on an island if you think being ranked #1 means jumping out to a 20 point lead in the first minutes of game and maintaining it throughout.90% of these posts are saying, the #1 team doesn't always look like the number 1 team in a game. Bart Torvik has a metric for measuring exactly this. Game scores gives you a grade between 0-100 that shows how well you played, adjusted for your opponent.90% of these posts are saying, the #1 team doesn't always look like the number 1 team in a game. Guys, I'm right there with you.

Here's the distribution of all the games from this year for the current AP top 5. I put a red dot on Tennessee's performance against Miami.

Looks like a #1 performance to me.
