BTO’s Miami Postgame Report

90% of these posts are saying, the #1 team doesn't always look like the number 1 team in a game. Guys, I'm right there with you.

I find it funny though that I say we didn't look like the number 1 team against Miami for 75% of the game, and suddenly I'm a doomsayer.

The thread report is how we looked so good against a mediocre team. I didn't think we looked our best, and there are plenty of reasons for that. I hope Barnes also said "hey, it's not our best game" and point out areas of improvement.

It's OK. We've had a great season and amazing resume. Why does it bother everyone to have a different opinion that for a specific game we didn't look like world beaters?
Where did it say that?

We beat a power conference team, by double digits, led for about 98% of the game, and will likely go down at seasons end as a Q2 win depending on what Miami does the rest of the year. Not seeing anyone call it some great win, but in also looks a lot better on your resume than a home win over a bottom feeder.

Not an insult at all, if you took my OP to say that “we looked so good” or “that Miami is a good team” then your reading comprehension literally needs work, I never said either of those things.
I am so very grateful to my second grade teacher, Mrs Reed, and our school district’s use of the SRA reading labs. She posted a running tally and it became an early academic competition.

So auburn was better for more than half the game, beat a better team than Miami, and covered the spread during a random game in the middle of November. Sounds like how I described a number 1 team.
Or even possibly, auburn may not have looked like the number 1 team in that performance like how Tennessee didn't look like the #1 against Miami
I mean I guess 22 vs 18 is more than half since that is the metric you want to use. Seems like a pretty arbitrary line to me.

We seem to have plenty of options to get a bucket. Felix is our largest post defender. If what we saw last night against a 6’-10” somewhat slimmer post player is how Felix defends the post, then Broome and any other good post scorers in the SEC will be a problem. Surely CRB will address those shortcomings in practice.
I disagree!

I think you have to give him room to have a bad defensive game! He’s played great for the most part and did a great job in the exhibition game against their bigs! I just don’t use One game to dictate the season….

Now if this continues leading up to Conference play, then YES! But one game where he had some mental lapses is not the end all!
Just my opinion!!

Why are you digging in so hard off one game? Defensively he’s been the best rim protector we’ve had in ?. We all knew, or should have, he isn’t skilled in the offensive area other than throw downs. But we should also know CRB saw what you’re talking about. And if it happens again, where he gets flat beat to position spots, then dig. Jmo not meaning to come off a d!ck
I agree with this assessment!!!

oh ok. so you think if you're justified in the insult, it's perfectly fine to question someone's intellect.
great moral compass you got there.

and yeah, you absolutely played up our level of play (we looked so good).
Here's ChatGPTs objective thoughts on your report about how you described Tennessee's play. pretty sure my comprehension is just fine. even if it's not, be kind
Tennessee's performance is described as dominant and methodical, with their defense tightening up in the second half to pull away from Miami, never allowing the game to be in doubt.

LMAO you have to be trolling. You plugged BTO’s write up into a large language model to have it assess the analysis he provided?? Good grief man. Just take the L and move on.

Good write up. Very hard to find anything to complain about so far this year. This team has exceeded my expectations in every way to date. Truly, I’m very happy so far and excited about the potential of this team and how well-rounded we seem to be.

I guess for the sake of having something to discuss, my two biggest concerns outside of depth are:

1) Non-Conference Schedule: This isn’t something we can control. We clearly tried to schedule some notable programs, but most of them have turned out to be under-achieving this year. Baylor, in particular, was supposed to be a marquee win. Doesn’t look like they are their normal “elite” this year. Because of that, I’m still not sure how good we are as weird as that sounds. Are we really a Top 5 team? Are we just smoke and mirrors like our opposing fanbases on Twitter are accusing us of being? Will we be battle tested like Auburn, Alabama, and Kentucky have been when we head to conference play? To be clear, I’m not saying we aren’t good. I just really don’t know how to feel about us yet. We lack a signature win like those 3 teams have.

2) Felix Okpara - We don’t need him to be an offensive force, but I do have some concerns. His defense has been mostly fine, but he has had some flashes where opposing bigs bully him in the post. He also hasn’t offered really any offense so far, which I know we don’t need, but in games where the perimeter shot isn’t falling, I do wonder if we’ll have the necessary post play to pick up the slack. I’m not drawing any conclusions on him last night, but he seemed to be struggling more so than usual.
I agree. Coach Barnes mentioned this as well. If Rick is concerned...I'm a bit concerned!

Yeah, I mean Freak should implement it as a feature on the website. AI thread posting analysis. you're welcome

Okpara is a major question mark. He just turns into a non factor at times. The center position could be our undoing again. The lack of just one good physical big cost us a Final Four last year.

Thankfully I don’t see an Edey in college basketball this year, but agreed with your premise, tomorrow should be a solid barometer on that.
