Bubblegeddon Has Begun.

Ole Miss is still breathing. Barely.
Actually I think they are in already.....with a win over K-State and playing teams like West Virginia and Villanova reasonably close. One win in the SEC tourney would cinch a bid, IMO.

KSU is mystifying to me, very streaky team.

They have been godawful for the last two months, they have work to do.

Oregon will make a serious run at Mark Few. If that fails, the candidate list will include pretty much anyone in the Nike stable of coaches who isn't at a flagship program.
Quick update on this.

Word has it that Mike Belotti told Kent he was done a few weeks ago. Oregon's not making an official statement until after the Pac-10 tournament, but it's pretty much done at this point.

Oregon would like to make a run at Few, but chances are that's not going to happen. Short of an insane contract, I doubt UofO has enough to draw him away from Gonzaga, and even though the biggest contract in America may not cut it. Not impossible, but very unlikely.

VERY interesting name that has been tossed around today: PJ Carlesimo. Word has it he's on the short list for UofO. Ex-NBA coach, excellent relationship with Phil Knight and Nike. Knight and the AD are looking to make a real splash with a new hire, for the new court.

Would still be a significant upgrade over Kent.

But so would most hires.

I can pretty much guarantee two things with the situation: Phil Knight will have more say in the hiring process than Mike Belotti, and the thing that concerns him most is how attention-grabbing it will be.

These teams are out if they dont win at least one conference tourney game
Ga tech
Illinois
Florida
Seton Hall
Notre Dame
Arizona State
Miss State

I'll say of this group that Notre Dame is the safest as of now. Depending on how brackets are laid out some of these probably need to win two and get to the conferense semis. I still think a Florida/State game might qualify as a play-in game.

I know it kills you that Florida is probably going to make it in, but you are being ridiculous in your wishful thinking.

If Florida does not beat Auburn, I still give them a 20 % chance of getting in, depending on whether the conference favorites win their tournaments.

If Florida beats Auburn, I give them more like an 80-90 % chance, again in part depending on other conference tournaments.

he's a very good coach. i'm not sure he's a great fit for oregon though. Randy Bennett would be a good hire.

Actually, I wish I could consider them a lock because it would make the conference look stronger. I wish I could tell you 6 SEC teams were locks.

They win 2 and they are a lock. They are probably "in" right now, but I wouldn't want to sit there on selection Sunday if they don't make it to the weekend in Nashville either.

I just don't see how 5-5 in their last 10, including a loss to Xavier at home and a lone marquee win over Michigan State in December makes them a lock especially with a loss to South Alabama at home thrown in there as well to cancel out that Michigan State win.

would be kinda funny if that same reporter asked that same question to calhoun after today's game.

Lose four straight to end the season. That is a good way to blow your chances at the big dance.

I just realized DePaul finished 1-19 in their last 20 games.

Holy bad.
