I'm afraid the surprise is going to be how badly we've done and how many times we came in 2nd place for the big time players. All Butch has done thus far is get a few big name players to take a free trip to Knoxville. It means nothing if we can't close the deal with some of these guys.

We all hope for the best but this speculation is, like another poster said, just crap. The Mayans may revise their calendar, Butch may over-deliver, under-deliver, send UPS to deliver; just a waste of time. Even when the NSD signees are known that doesn't guarantee a victory, nor does it indicate a bust; an indication of a good signing class is great but until the rubber hits the road noone, including the coaches, knows how it's going to turn out. Keeping it Real!

I'll wait and see what happens on NSD.

bUTch has worked his butt off, as have his assistants, and he wasn't intimidated by anyone and went boldly after some big targets despite how totally destroyed our football program is.

Kids don't care alot about past history or traditions and our staff has started late with no real relationships built with the kids or the HS coaches and that takes a couple of years or longer to solidify in most cases.

All the negative people on here are either NOT Tennessee fans but are useless TROLLS or else they're just sad people that are totally negative about everything in their lives.

FACT is that bUTch is going to be here for at least 4 years and we can't change that so we may as well support him and out team and have a positive outlook that things are going to get better slowly over the next 3 or 4 years.

Being negative and whining like a baby will change nothing at all...except recruits minds when they and their parents come here to try and get some info on what our fans are saying.

I love my Tennessee Vols and I'll support all the coaches and players as long as they're here doing their best to rebuild our program.

I hate to keep this up with you but you really are a dense one. Nobody said recruiting doesn't matter. Only that now isn't the time to judge. I say draw your conclusions on him in 2 or 3 years.

But at LEAST wait until Feb. 6, 2013???

If you think the class sucks then I'm sure we will hear it even more. But there isn't anything to be down about right now. There may or may not be on NSD, but no need to go all chicken little just yet. Sheesh.

It is very stupid to judge anything before NSD. A lot can happen and more than likely we will pull some great football players. We are not making many back -up plan offers. IMO that is very telling.

i understand and agree with some of what you say. the only thing i really disagree with is that it was time to go chicken little after dooley lost the UK game and people wanted to believe he was the coach of the future. we can't afford another year of so so recruiting and fall father behind. i know this mostly is not on jones, but i really think hart may have made a mistake with this hire. he may prove me wrong on signing day and i really hope he does, but i don't think he is a good enough coach to beat sec teams with better players. which means we will probably be down another 5 years minimum. if he could just do what kelly did at ND in his first year i would be happy.

Everyone needs to be in a wait and see mode. Thats the intelligent thing to do.....but it's OK to be optimistic and a little excited. That's why we follow College Football.

because the 3 years you have been on here we have been going down the toilet. dooley a horrible hire, recruiting sucking, the rest of the sec getting better, hart hired UK loss, losing seasons. you don't see a trend here. i want to see some progress and it starts with recruiting. i want to be more optomistic, but it is going to take something to get me excited like a good recruiting class. land some of these players we keep talking about lawson, north, bell. so far jones reminds me of dooley, alot of talk and not alot of action. i understand people wanting to be optomistic and that is great, but everybody did the samething with dooley when he was failing and look where we are at now. i tell you what i will say nothing but positive things if he lands a top 20 class. that would be a positive step in my opinion, it would help get me excited. the man is getting paid 3 million dollars time to earn his money.

You've been stuck with a negative minded attitude so long that you know no other way to behave.

If you won the powerball lottery the only thing you would do is whine, cry and gripe at the taxes you'd have to pay on all that money.

You cry and whine after bUTch has only been here for 2 MONTHS but reality is that if we're getting alot better in 3 YEARS then our coaching staff is doing a good job and moving us back in the right direction.

FACT is that Tennessee is probably the worst football program in the country right now and we have to play inb the SEC so it's going to be a HUGE task to rebuild our entire program and it's going to take little steps of progress for YEARS to get it done.

Reality simply evades you chUmpyvol and probably always will and I pity you.

so basically your saying we suck, recruiting sucks, but i should be more optomistic. thanks for clearing that up:crazy:. like i said if he lands a top 20 class you won't hear a negative word out of me. i will say then we are moving in the right direction. hard for me to say that now when we are 11th in the SEC in recruiting. there is another week left though and alot could change.

You might not like champyvol's take on this, but I agree with much of what he's saying.

Let's see Jones pull some of these guys in. There's really no point in getting yourself hyped up until it happens.
