Diverse staff. Good coaches.

Coach Jones looks to have passed the first test.

I note that Coach Martinez is from Coral Gables, so he should have some relationships in South Florida he can leverage.

We're coming for you Bama. Payback is a Butch!:machgun:

Looking at the Butch Jones staff at Cincinnati, there was only one minority position coach on the staff. If he brings in the majority of his Cincinnati staff, there will be only 1 minority position coach UT's staff. Most SEC coaching staffs have at least 3 or 4 minority coaches on their staffs. How effective will the recruiting be with only 1 minority coach on staff?

Needs to add Tee Martin to this staff.

And the stupidity reaches another level...Wow :eek:lol:

Either way you look at it someone has to be the minority....unless the staff is split.

:lolabove::lolabove::lolabove:

Most on this board will need to use the dictionary to discover the definition of "acumen".

Even more disturbing is that most on this board will not know what a 'dictionary' is...

ACUMEN.. isnt that a spice you use to cook with?

I couldnt give a shlt if he has blacks on the staff or not.

If you want racial quotas on the staff, I want racial quotas on the team. There aren't near enough whites on the team....blacks dominate the team makeup, above the percentage of blacks in the population.

And where are the asians on the team? The indians? The latinos?

If you want racial quotas for blacks, I want racial quotas for every other ethnic group in the world.

Mmmmkay?

Hey, how about little people! Need more little people! And more differently abled!

Or, how about just getting people who can recruit and coach, regardless of their appearance?

Historically speaking, there are or were Black rednecks too. Scroll down to coal miners at this site: Redneck - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

After hearing the word redneck thrown around so incorrectly for so may years, I thought I was the only one that knew "Redneck" is truely "NOT" a deragatory term. Merely a term given to what men (both black and white) to describe the bandana worn around their neck, during a time when they were fighting together for better work and living conditions in the coal mines.

Don't forget affirmative action. Players that can't run a sub 6 second 40 deserve a place on the team right beside the pattersons.

Come to think of it, they are already playing in the defensive backfield.

Tennessee is not a HBCU....non issue....move on. Remember a Minority turned this job down to get more money at his current position......With the money he turned down, we could have had a whole staff of minority's.......Tee turned it down too, not like UT didn't try??

...You better freaking believe recruits care about this stuff. You've got kids going to school hundreds of miles from home and all of their authoritative figures are white. Do you think that is appealing to them? I don't think so. Now, I do believe Jones will make sure there are some black coaches on his staff and we already know of at least one.
I bet alot of those kids also went across town to high schools that were full of "White authorative figures" because they wanted better educations, conditions, and chances to go to a University and probably didn't give a rat's a** about the racial make up. So many young minorities today are trying to shed the racial issues that were faced by their earlier generations and probably could if it wasn't shoved in their faces by people trying to make an issue where there is none. CBJ was turned down by one minority coach already. I wonder if white kids turn down schools because of the minorities that may be on those staffs? I doubt it; most kids today want the best chance to advance and don't see the issues that some try to imply are there. JMHO

Jones got the people that he feels are the most qualified. If you want to support black coaches, then go to our basketball program.

shut up, racist.

Exactly.

Please...
How many of the 3 or 4 minority coaches should be Chinese? How many should be American Indian?
Let me work on the formula. Let's see, we need the following:
1 African American
1 White European American
1 Italian American
1 Abenaki Indian
1 Crow Indian
1 Potawatomi Indian
1 Chicksaw Indian
1 Japanese American
1 Navajo Indian
1 Cuban American
1 Mexican American

Would this line up suite you?

I have two recommendations:

  1. Lets hire coaches based on the content of their character (skills/abilities); regardless of skin color.
  2. As part of a Vol education, let's teach our players to accept training/teaching from coaches regardless of skin color.
