The bigger question is why do some people get so irritated at such comments.
You really think Butch thinks he can just talk and not win? He is the head of the team and a spokesman for the team. Clamming up and being quiet until the season doesn't quite cut it for the job description.

If he continues to work this hard for the program we will be back on top. Sad thing is it will take a couple years more than likely.

This x9000 we should not of been suprised the Vols played terribly when everytime their coach had the chance he'd run down the laudry list of reasons why we can't win. Tough to believe in yourself as a team when it seem like the coach doesn't believe in you either

There is no question in my mind that he is a better FOOTBALL coach than Dooley and probably Kiffen too. I'm excited to see what he can do with the decent talent we can put on the field next year!

I don't understand why someone with a "Seriously talk is cheap. Just get the job done and let it speak for itself" attitude is is posting on football forum in February.

All this place is is "talk."

I'd much rather hear our coach talk like this & be seen recruiting his ass off rather than, we're going to improve our shower discipline, and we're just not a very good football team...it's going to take blah, blah time, etc.

How about you negateers go hide somewhere until game day and stop with the talk is cheap sh*t. I am so tired of seeing something good followed by that crap. Yeah I know we have heard it before but so what. Like my momma says " if you don't have anything good to say then don't say anything at all".

I like CBJ's attitude and I think right now he is doing the right things in the off season. If his attitude and passion translate to the field then he should be successful. I think what Jones is trying to do right now is unite the fan base. I think he has a good grasp of what this fan base and the University has gone through the past few years. Jones has my support untill he proves he doesn't deserve it.

I won't really start to believe in him until I see him start pulling in mostly elite 4 and 5 star recruits, and then upset a couple of teams we aren't supposed to beat this fall. Until then, any confident talk from Butch, while it is necessary and part of the job, doesn't really amount to a hill of beans.

So what's bUTch supposed to do? Just say we're not gonna get anything done here and I'm just working on my buyout like Dooley? Or never get out and fire up the fans and never promote the Vols program? Yeah he's gotta ultimately prove it on the field but I sure as hell want him out and about talking up the football team and university to generate excitement and help bring in recruits.
