Bye, bye, Rich Rod

CJH does seem to be the best guy in the eyes of Mich fans...And to land him would give them and their fans a shot in the arm..But to pursue him and fail would be a huge black eye on a program that already looks a bit battered...Unless Mich is 100% sure CJH would take the job, their best course right now is to offer it to someone who would be ecstatic to have it...Brady Hoke...JMHO

Michigan AD will take time to annouce future of Rich Rodriguez - Campus Rivalry: College Football & Basketball News, Recruiting, Game Picks, and More - USATODAY.com

"I'm going to travel back to Ann Arbor when the team goes back (Sunday morning), and over the next few days will wrap up my work as far as my evaluation that has been a nine-month process," Brandon said in an interview of with the Detroit News. "I will meet with my coach, and I will have more to say on this matter the latter part of the week.

"I have done a lot of work on this, and I will continue to work on it.

Brandon was not happy with the team's performance, which does not bode well for Rodriguez's future.

"It was a really, really disappointing day," Brandon told the News. "I know our coaches and our players were disappointed. I feel bad for the players, especially the seniors. Our expectations were much higher."

Yep...he's buying time. Rodriguez won't be canned until a deal with then next coach is already done. The AD really wants Rich Rod gone, but if he can't land Harbaugh (or someone else they'd be very happy with), it'd be better to suffer through one more year of Rodriguez and then get a great coach next year than to settle for a mediocre coach this year.

doesn't sound promising for RR

Lets get this straight. RR isn't a horrible coach, but he isn't right for Michigan. he has killed them in recruiting because of his system. You could have had a trained monkey at coach and they still would have got blue chippers, unfortunately his system is very selective in who it benefits and it scares away many. He is better at a mid BCS school who can focus more on a specific athlete..

Don't have a clue which way it goes, but I for one would love to see Harbaugh in Michigan, building it back to its old school roots and making the Buckeyes deepthroat the football in the run game. But, thats just me.

This is where I am as well. Rag on the Big Ten as much as you want but college football needs Michigan to be relevant again.

I feel the same, college football just isn't the same without a strong Michigan team. OSU has owned this decade of the Big Ten, parlaying the luck of not having a conference title game into a couple national title appearances that it had no business being in. The UM/OSU game has always been something I enjoyed watching, up until the last 6 or 7 years.

Why does college football need Michigan to be relevant? I'm perfectly happy watching Michigan wallow in its own ineptitude.

Rich is safe....but he will have to fire all the D coaches.

Honestly would have agreed with you a few weeks ago, but after suffering another raping to their rivals and their worst bowl loss ever to a slightly above average SEC team i think the shatstorm has got too big to overcome.

Let's say they do fire Rich Rod...what are the odd he ends up as Pitt's new Coach?

In my humble opinion, Rodriguez's system, while not necessarily a bad one, is as inappropriate for Michigan as Bill Callahan's West Coast system was for Nebraska.

Yeah, I don't even think the refs could have screwed us out of a victory against that pathetic D.
