Bye, bye, Rich Rod

I believe Justice Hayes will stay no matter who the coach is. He has been pretty adamant that no matter who the coach is, he wants to be at Michigan. If we do end up getting Harbaugh, I think kids will still want to be there after talking to him, depending on their playing style of course. The sooner we can get him in there the better it is and will allow enough time for him to build some type of relationship with the kids that are already committed before NSD rolls around.

Michigan is going to have to fight hard for Harbaugh. I think the 49ers are going to go after him with everything they've got.

Something tells me that Harbaugh really likes coaching in college. And coaching at his Alma mater is particularly appealing. UM has some pretty deep pockets and the impending NFL lockout may frighten him off. Plus I really can't stand Ohio St and Harbaugh could really mix things up in that series.

Idk how new this is but on ESPN it said CJH won't likely return to Stanford next season.

I wonder if Miles would consider leaving LSU for UM. The grass always tastes greener on the other side.

(as a Niners fan) Im pretty sure I read somewhere that Harbaugh's first choice was Michigan and then the San Fran job. I expect him to go to Ann Arbor and Gruden go to SF.....I know Gruden is a long shot but with ties, I really thing SF gets it done.

On ESPN this morning, they were saying that Harbaugh was interested in coaching in the NFL. What's Michigan's Plan B?

he's an nfl guy and i'm not sure why he would turn down nfl money. though the 49ers job isn't exactly a great one. it's not as though he can't go back to college as an nfl failure and still get another major college job.

What's Belichick's record without Tom Brady? Meyer's at Florida without Tebow? Harbaugh's at Stanford without Luck?

What's the point? All coaches need bigtime players in order to win.

RR was doing just fine at WVU prior to White's arrival. He took it to another level with him at qb.

I don't think he'd turn down the 49ers to stay at Stanford. I don't think the Florida, Texas, or Bama jobs could keep him out of the NFL either. Michigan's different though. If he goes to Ann Arbor, it's not business, it's personal.

i don't know the man, but he doesnt' strike me as a guy who has a dream job that doesn't involve the most money/prestige possible, but who knows.

The SF job gives off bad vibes right now. They have some nice pieces (Davis, RB's) but are a lonnnng way from being a good team.

Harbaugh would get six years at Michigan by default. He beats tOSU, automatic extension. That job is gravy for their alums.

The NFC West is garbage though, wouldn't take much to get that team to the playoffs.

Pete Carroll might have things on the rise there in Seattle. He had a huge turnover, threw together a practical cast of misfits with a Favre-esque walking liability at QB in Hasselbeck and won the division. The Rams also seem to be on the upswing.

if the 49ers can resolve the qb situation they are a 10 win team. not sure how easy that is though.

Not very. They need to get rid of either of the Smiths, for whatever they're worth (I think either could make for a decent backup).

IMO Mike Singletary was never meant to be a head coach..He is coordinator material for sure but just can't get a grip on everything being a HC involves...His control issues prevent him from delegating which in turn creates an atmosphere where everybody plays not lose instead of playing to win...SF is still feeling the effects of the whole Alex Smith fiasco and until they commit to solidifying the QB position, they will be mediocre at best....I think they have an outstanding nucleus on both sides of the ball but don't have a clue on how to feel in the gaps...Until they get the complimentary players to accomplish that it will be more of the same....JMHO
