'18 CA QB JT Shrout (UT signee)

We also don't know how the interceptions occurred. Bad decisions or WR's not catching/doing their job? Hard to tell on a high school level.

Dan Marino threw 20+ interceptions in a season while at Pitt....twice. He ended up alright.

Interceptions can be coachable.

Yes, but I would prefer him not to throw 20 INTs as a VOL. Even gunslinger Bray never had more that 12 in a season as a Vol. Let's just hope he can be coached on that part as he does have an arm on him.

Boom. Surprised me to see how many picks he threw in his senior year but get that shored up and learn in the pro style offense should set this kid up for a great career as a vol!

Well, yeah, we all would. But like I've said, he can at least get the ball downfield unlike some of the walk-ons we'd be down to if injuries strike our scholarship QBs. He may never even see the field here. He might be a gem. He might be awful.

But you can see obvious talent when you watch the film.

Context...one of the most difficult aspects of HS recruiting.

What we do know is that CJP let Penix go, even though Penix wanted to stay, and this is the guy they actively recruited to replace him. So they chose Shrout over Penix, and probably have a better understanding of the context of his HS stats. Relax and enjoy.

Meant Super Bowl wins. Thought that was implied.

Why imply? :) Four letters that rough on ya?

And you went PLURAL with the implied! Super BowlS. So you’d need MULTIPLE Super Bowl wins to “want”? Poor Kurt Warner.

“High upside prospect. Clearly needs experience and development (especially processing defenses), but after losing Martinez, it was a nice late add considering QBs are super tough to land at this time in the recruiting calendar.”

Well we will def need a top caliber QB coach as this kid is rough around the edges. According to that article he has all the foot work, technique and arm motion down, so now he just needs a coach that can teach him how to atually use all that in a game while reading SEC Ds.

From watching his videos he doesn't mind throwing into multiple coverage. He will learn quickly in the SEC that doesn't work well.

414 pass attempts
70 run attempts

Sounds like he was the offense. Awful lot of pass attempts per game in high school.
