‘23 CA QB Nicholaus Iamaleava (Tennessee)

Looking at JG stats I don’t see how anyone thought he was good. 42 games and only 23 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. Whaaaat?

What is wild is per his highlights you thought you were getting a dangerous runner that looked like Kapernick. When he got here you basically got a poor man’s Matt simms. So his highlights were either ridiculously sped up or competitors were that slow

The red flag during JGs recruitment was them classifying him as a dual threat QB. His tape never showed someone who could scramble to get yards.

From what I remember he looked explosive as a runner in Hs highlights which is why it was odd to what you actually received. Although it was straight line runs

So had a chance to meet n NFL coach headed from a pro day my Grandpa knows some ppl.I barely know my own damn name for the record some days but he saw my UT gear introduced himself & his next words were "Nico RidingLamas (we laughed everyone had a few by then)but says "Now Josh imma tell you cause this is what I fu***n do so listen but that mofo is a Heisman 1st rd qb playing in high school"😂😂 then someone a few feet away jumps in is like"U talkin Nico kid from Cali"?Then he says "that sob is gonna paint college orange he's a special one son".We talked some headed back out.I just shook there hands n walked away smiling but UT n Nico Heupel were the talk of the afternoon. There's a different spark in the air right now and im here for it!

**I know I know cool story bro hehe😎

I never saw it, especially when compared to other dual threat QBs. He wasn't afraid to leave the pocket but I didn't think he was an effective runner. Kind of big and lumbering.

Hell, Jalen Hurts was in the same recruiting class.

That and the price they're having to pay these kids just went up by a factor of ten. The old $100K is the new $1M.

I can say with great certainty there was a kid in the last recruiting transfer cycle that a staff at one school thought they could get 30k the old way, and his new school gave him 150k in NIL, plus a car and an apartment.

They are upset NIL factors make it less likely a kid waits around as option B so if they miss they are to Option C or lower.
Ode to the days a 5 star, David Cornwell waits around AND participated in some reality competition to “win” a Bama offer and the glory of sitting on the bench in Tuscaloosa for 3.5 seasons. 😔

Dude was never explosive even in high school. He had like a career average of 2 yards per run.

Exactly plus Nico is literally juking people out of their socks whereas JG never showed the ability

I think JG got his rating based off his physical tools. He had a cannon for a arm and had potential but turns out he had 0 touch on his passes and was just not there mentally in game. We all heard about how he was unreal in practice it’s quite common actually practice all Americans who freeze up on the big stage
