Calling MZTERRY

you got me Greg Brady. My exact words were not Boooo

you avoided the question unless your answer is "do nothing"

That is exactly the answer for most normal, mature adults. ESPECIALLY in the FIFTH game of the season for a new coach and a young team! Good grief at least give them ONE WHOLE SEASON before you start crying.

In response to a discussion about literal "boos" at Neiland Saturday, you literally posted that you were "booing" at home Saturday. I'm sorry. That's just a hilarious picture.

I suggest they deal with it in a different way while in the stadium. You've already admitted it has no benefit. The negatives are listed.

I suspect that you already know the answer to your own question, or you're just not good at thinking things through. The options you presented are actually a fallacy of the excluded middle-- i.e. presenting only extremes as possible answers. In your scenario, fans can only either boo, or cheer voraciously.

The obvious "middle" is to do neither.

I say that I suspect that you already know your answer because the fallacy of the excluded middle is usually presented when a person knows the alternative, and uses the fallacy to win an unwinnable debate... Or they use it because they are too dumb to realize the "middle" option.

You don't seem dumb.

you avoided the question unless your answer is "do nothing"

I did not avoid the question. Please see the bolded. I suggest they deal with it in a different way.

As with most "excluded middle fallacies", there are actually a full range of reponses at one's disposal which don't entail booing the team/coaches in public.

One could remain quiet. One could sit on your hands. One could imagine kicking puppies. One could go to the bathroom and cry into a roll of toilet paper. One could propose to their ex.

There are lots of things one could do while not "booing" their team/coaches in public. I see fanbases do it multiple times in every game, every Saturday.

Sadly, I see a few classless fanbases that boo.

Too much common sense in this post.

if you expect 100k fans to "do nothing" when the team makes mistakes or disagrees with play-calling then you just don't understand anything. Never going to happen anywhere

and I'm not crying I was just pointing out a series of events where I seriously questioned the wisdom of the play calls. CBJ has been a coach long enough to expect that kind of stuff and I would be he wishes SA had less time on their final drive too

I'm on the boards reading all of the time.lol

I'm learning not to respond to off base stupid comments and accepting that every game is different. Some people are true fans some are "game day fans"...on the band wagon for whomever does well that game.lol

I'm proud of Jason and the strides he's making to be better, do better, and support the team as a whole.

I'm not going to respond to any of the questions regarding CBJ and staff. Many of you have begun to form your own opinions

~I see many of you beginning to speak negatively about the coaching

~i was shocked out of seat when i heard the booing at the game Saturday, actually the first time it happen i thought you were doing it towards USA, then my nephew told me"no, Auntie"..etc smh

The one thing i can say is this is the hardest fan base to please, and the same thing that i hate about this fan base is the same thing that i respect so much. We came to UT because of the passionate people, Dooley, Baggett and Terry Joseph...in that order, and we remain VFL because of you passionate people.

Thanks for your perspective. No one should be booing their own college team, especially singling out individual players like Worley. Stupid, shortsighted and classless. I hope all players' parents are able to discern the idiots from the true fans like you.

Congrats to Jason. Starting to look comfortable out there and making plays. He's a fan favorite and I'm looking forward to watching him progress over the next 3.5 yrs.

You realize we got the ball back with over 2 minutes left in the game right??

we got the ball back with 1:51 left but we gave it to them with way too much time left in the game. Would you prefer them to be trying to score as the clock was winding down or to be able to ignore the clock and run their offense? Pick up a 1st down or 2 on the ground and we end it there.

except I yelled it on first down too. I remember because my wife gave me a serious glare for almost waking my son

I've never claimed to write a check like that

why would we need to wait to criticize what we view as bad coaching decisions? CBJ has been a coach for a long time

Be critical if you wish but booing in the stadium. Not so much.

so if I'm screaming "Come on Butch" from my seats the players will clearly be able to tell what's happening? It's noise being made to express frustration or disagreement. IMO the sound made is irrelevant

hand me $3-4 million a year and you can boo anytime you want

Kids are not making it. I know. I know. You are booing the coach. But like you said earlier, how can anyone tell what is in your mind? You say your booing the coach but recruits and players don't know what is in your mine. See how that works?

I'm not saying what plays I would or wouldn't have ran in that situation. I'm only saying I wouldn't have, and didn't, boo my team or my coach.

And don't act like if he had ran the ball 3 straight times and got stuffed that people wouldn't have been on here whining and complaining because he should've been more aggressive and passed the ball on 3rd down.

Just can't please some people no matter what.

Seriously???? You're going with the "people can't tell the difference between a boo and some other sound" argument??? Really?

Cheering and booing are a part of sporting events. If someone goes in there and all they do is boo and cuss the coaches and players, then that's their right to do so. Telling someone not to boo, is just as bad as telling the people who leave early they aren't "real" fans.

he threw on 1st down in a one score game with the clock on our side. The only time we ran was for 4 yards. There would be much less disagreement if the only pass was on 3rd in an attempt to pick up the 1st down.

when did working the clock become a negative?

Working the clock isn't a negative. What I'm saying is people complain all the time about coaches not having a killer instinct, not going for the jugular and putting the dagger in the heart. So I'm not second guessing the coach, esp after a win. If we had thrown for a first down people would be saying how brilliant he was to catch SA off-guard with a pass play in that situation.

My point, I don't ALWAYS look for the negative in every situation. Football can be complicated with complicated decisions. When they work, you're a genius, when they don't you're a fool.

See what I'm saying? Probably not.....

Oh and by the way........what good do you think it does for you to "express your disagreement" in the form of boos??

My opinion is that booing should NOT be a part of amateur sporting events. :hi:

relying on our passing game to get it done when our running game was getting 7.5ypc is not a good call. It worked out because it was S Alabama.

Then that's your opinion, but it makes it no more right than someone who disagrees. If PJ wants to boo, then he's going to boo. I don't have a problem with it, because it doesn't effect anyone on the field, or play calling. If someone can't handle a few boos or some jeering in the stands, then they should probably take up something else as a potential career path, in regards to football.

That's my opinion.

well that's your opinion, but it makes it no more right than mine.

My philosophy is this, I try not to do ANYTHING that could even remotely hurt my team. They are "my" team, and I want them to succeed. If I can't do anything to help them (cheering) I certainly don't want to do anything to hurt them or bring them down. When you boo, that is the only thing that can happen. Nothing good can possibly come out of it. If you had a son out there playing his heart out on Saturdays you would most certainly feel differently about people booing him.

So sure, you absolutely have the right to boo if you wish. It's a free country. I have no say over that. But just so you know, all of the rational, normal, mature people in the world think you look foolish.
