He has literally not finished with 15 wins any year and has improved every single year. He overachieved his first two years and is on pace for what reasonable people and experts expected this year. A NCAA berth.
You signed up to troll Martin. You aren't a real UT fan. You just want to bash Martin.
Whats up with calling people "boy"? And calling Martin a "token" hire. This isn't 1952.
you are kidding me aren't you? you really aren't serious enough to believe the guy has improved and we have any reason to expect anything other than a 1st round no show loss in the nit? are you a pro martin plant or are you just that out of touch with basketball reality?
CM hasn't overachieved at UT, other than winning a couple of games he maybe shouldnt have. However, he has lost more that he should've won. Its not balanced well. We have 1 surprise win this year. How many losses we shouldn't have had? 4? Vandy, aggies, nc state, Xavier off top of my head. That's like having a 1-4 asst/to ratio.
ncaa bids are the only things coaches are judged on. obviously you don't listen to sports talk radio in this state. nobody thinks he is improving the program or will ever get to the tourney; well the only tourney that matters that is.

Idk how you're defining "should've won", but if it's from a Vegas standpoint...
We weren't favored at Xavier so X that one off
We were underdogs on neutral verse Xavier so add that one
We were underdogs at LSU so add that one
Iirc we opened as underdogs at Bama, so add that one
I'm going off of the team we have vs the team we played. Not Vegas. Anybody who thinks the gameplan we ran the 2nd game against Xavier shouldn't have beaten them by double digits the first game is clueless. If you don't think this team is or should be better than those Lsu and bama teams, I truly don't know wtf you are watching.
That's fine, was just asking if it was a completely subjective "should've won" or if there was some sort of outline you were following.
So what was the 1 surprise win then?
Sparty honest question...do you dislike slower style teams, or is your hatred of our system just more or less because it appears to have no coaching at all?
Basically...would you be ok with a guy like Tony Bennett taking over, or would you absolutely hate that? His style is boring, slow paced, and very defensive minded, games usually in the 50s...but they're successful.
Just curious as to your thoughts?
I like maximizing the team and players you have on the team. If that means a grind it out game because we are better that way, then so be it. Of course its entertainment so up and down is fun, but its about winning and I'd take a slow it down team that wins over a fast team that loses.
I don't like what CM is doing because I feel he holds his horses back and it has cost us some key wins the last 2 years.. This team is built to use its length, depth and athletic ability to get up and down the court.
That and the whole pick and roll issue on both ends. If you can't defend it or run it, you better not make it a halfcourt game.
This sums up the scheme vs. personnel dilemma we have witnessed for three years now.
Don't try to be what you aren't, and don't be afraid to change from what isn't working.

I think you're being sarcastic, but I remember wondering at the time why Tennessee was taking the commit so early. Maybe they just used the kid's decommit as an opportunity to back out of something they had regretted.
Boy, they're gonna have a lot of crow to eat come March, just like you and others. Though, I expect you to twist your "he'll never make it" once he does.
hoss...the only way he gets in is to win the sec tourney. it is obvious his own players have no respect for his leadership abilities and coaching skills or they would be performing at a much higher level.
Yea it was definitely sarcasm lol. It could honestly also have something to do with Allen too though. Maybe they feel like they're in a good spot and allen expressed concern about adding another similar style player, who knows?
ok little johnson city boy what are you gonna do when i turn out to be correct?
Be just as surprised that result happened as I am that you think finding out my location and gender is an effective retort. But, I'll stand corrected, and, despite how much I like and want Martin to succeed, I won't be upset if those in charge decide he's not the man for this job. However, I've never called for a coach's head and I never will.
