Candace Owens Rips Lil Nas X’s ‘Satan Shoes’: ‘Nobody Has The Courage To Tell Black America The Truth’

You were right that our standard for talent is much different. If it doesn't take talent to be a pop star in an era where people can listen to whatever they want, what does it take? Nobody is forcing Jefferson Starship down the kids' throats. They listen to whatever they want and you think talentless people are winning. Go and win, too, then. This should be easy

Marketing.

When you choose a genre on spotify etc the record labels will pay to have their song played somewhere in the mix. They can then track google hits on the web to gauge response.

Alot of the music is being driven by algorithms.

My favorite part of all of this is that after some folks lost their **** about his video and shoes, he turned around and released an extended cut of the video. Plus his twitter feed has been hilarious since Saturday.

Totally agree with this. My uncle who has always been a near virtuoso on guitar loves Kiss and argues for their spot in the pantheon because he says their show was among the greatest spectacles he's ever seen and basic three chord rock was the perfect way to deliver what they were doing.
Motley Crue is another example

Back in college at UT there was one year I lived at Andy Holt which was apartment style so 4 people lived together. A friend of mine and I rolled the dice on the other 2 people. One moved out leaving 3. The 3rd wheel was this tall, goofy, super Christian guy. He wouldn’t cuss, wouldn’t drink, wouldn’t smoke, and usually didn’t watch the things we liked, although somehow he was ok with showering with his enormous girlfriend and her moving in with us. I still shudder at the sound of slapping coming from that shower. Anyway, somehow we convinced him to watch the Southpark movie you’re referencing. I thought he would be gone 10 seconds. He watched the whole thing and was dying laughing when the devil was singing. I was hoping maybe it was a sign he would chill out but it wasn’t. It sure was funny watching him watch that movie though. Good times.

South Park brings people together.

Yep. I had another friend off campus and every Wednesday night we would go over for a South Park party. How I graduated with a B average I’ll never know because I sure didn’t prioritize school work back then.

I associate South Park with my HS years (tho I still watch it to this day). The show we'd all get together for in college was Chappelle Show. We'd seriously have 25 people packed into a little apartment living room every Wednesday night.

Another great one. You and I have different political views but I bet we’d get along pretty well. I have plenty of friends that aren’t conservative. We don’t have to agree on everything. It’s better that we don’t actually. More interesting.

My politics are not popular so I mostly keep them to myself IRL and I only know a few people who see things like me, so most of my friends are idiots. JK, my real point is I can't exclude people for differing politics or there ain't gonna be anybody.

Crue is very underrated.

Probably the best power ballad of all time with home sweet home.

If Egos had not gotten involved they would have still dominated in the 90s.

Outside of GNR they are probably my second favorite rock band.

The Cure were terrible live though. I saw them on the Dr Feelgood tour in Oklahoma City. The rest of the band is really good though. Mick Mars is one of the most underrated rock guitarists in history.

South Park still very clever. Funny how those kids haven't age in 20 years ...

Chappelle was an absolute genius. But can you imagine the black white supremacist coming out now???

Key and Peele underrated.

I used to like Key and Peele but then I saw an interview with Chappelle where he basically accused them of copying him.

after he pointed that out, it makes it hard to enjoy because all I can think about is that its a watered down version of Chappelle show which was amazing. So its disappointing now.

If Chappelle said that then he must be upset about something because I don’t think Key and Peele are anything like Chappelles show.

KISS put their blood into ink for a comic book. There was no mention of Satan and no **** running around on a video doing lap dances
