That completely misses the entire point of this thread and I don't think some posters here even give a damn how Team UConn plays this summer at the Olympics or even if the Star Spangled Banner plays when they are on the medal stand or if they more appropriately go with the UConn fight song. Leaving Candace Parker off the Olympic team is ridiculous and so was your post.

For our fans, we will show enough class not to be an insult to the word "fan". You're no alumni to this university. If you are, then you are a total disgrace to it and the very word. . . I can't wait until UCLOWNN falls off its perch and the bandwagon "Jumpers" flock back to the real representative of WCBB : The University of Tennessee Lady Vols.

I completely agree. I know it might be petty, but I hope they don't even win Gold. Let them win Silver so all the world can see Diana Taurasi take her medal off and throw it in the crowd during the ceremony and drop F bombs on how the refs caused them the game. Lol!

How many of us know or will ever really know why Candace was left off the team? Whoever made the decision, it was not a Very bad one. Also to think that Genno has little input as to who is or is not on the team, is being very nieve. However, Genno is not the only culprit, the entire selection committee has to shoulder a lot of the blame as well.

This is quite off the topic of this thread... but what makes you think TENN will some day be the real rep of WCBB? Before you go off on some UCONN troll diatribe... answer the question, if you can.

Because in all the time that UT WAS the spot-light program for WCBB in the past, it was never as despised as the ultra-arrogant UCLOWNN fans, coach and program. . . . People as a whole, would rather see a program of integrity represent any entity over a program of arrogance. You can argue this all you want...But there is no argument.

Name one org. besides the Yankees or Ucon with questionable ethics that continually represented their sport for more than a moment of time.... Take your time, I'm here all week.

Didja Google "The 25 Most Hated Teams of All Time" yet. Lets look a little further: Of the top ten, 4 from the NE, five from central US and one (If you consider South Florida with all of it's Northern influx) from the Southeast...A definite pattern, huh?

those teams were mostly flashes of 2-3 years or less... UT represented the best in WCBB for more than a decade.

I'm sure New England takes great pride in being the first to come to your mind as a hated franchise.... What an honor... Coincidentally, though, it is the same geographical area of the US... Hmmm

You asked a question, I answered it. Both SI and the Sporting News has a list of top 25 hated teams. There's a lot of overlap between the two. What they have most in common is that the teams were successful. Nowhere
on either list is there a losing or even mediocre team. It seems as though jealousy is one of the prime ingredients in being hated. ( eg. Jeff Gordon is on one of the lists) What those lists have to do with Tennessee being beloved or UConn being hated, you'll have to explain to me.
Now your free to go you and not hang around all week.

RUBBISH!!!

There's no reason that is enough to left a women Jordan before even the roster was called.

All I want to hear is "this is the last time Geno will be coaching the national team." I don't like that man, I never like him, and I don't want to hear his name at all. He may won 20 championship because he is a cheater when it comes to recruiting.

Don't be silly now Coach Jumper; I dislike UConn as much as anyone on this board although I've grown to respect it a little more in recent years. The reasons should be obvious to you. However, I'm definitely not a fan of UConn. I've never suggested on being one.

I have a news for you; not only am I an alumni of the University of Tennessee, I happen to be be a two-time alumni (that's where a part of my alias "2Alum" comes from) as well! I come from a family full of UT graduates! Disappointed?

I have a no problem with non-alumni fan base; many of them happen to be some of the most loyal and supportive fans we have. Props to them. But I for one have more at stake other than simple athletic successes on the fields when it comes to UT. And we support our beloved university in more ways than you can imagine. Standing up proud & cheering loud on Saturdays are not the only ways to support the University of Tennessee. Yes, most of us do all that, too. And don't ever question my loyalty.

Now, who's being petty and Vindictive?? The only colors I will see in Rio are Red, White & Blue of good ole USA whether the Olympic team is coached by Geno and the team is full of ex-Uconn players.

You might find this hard to believe but I doubt there are members on this board waiting by their computer screens to respond to the latest coach j nugget. You asked a question, I answered it and without the assistance of a computer search BTW. Now you deride my response because of some delusional self imposed time limit ! I'm curious, how much time did I have to give you a legitimate answer ? I only gave you one example because that's all that you asked for.
I hope you realize that responses like these are not helping in your search for a coaching job.

That is not likely to satisfy anyone here but at least it is some form of an explanation. It still makes very little sense not to have Candace on the team... However, UConn fans will now point to Carol Callan as the person behind the decision and deflect from Geno. I remain skeptical of that.

Bear Bryant wrote a book in which he described his coaching days with Texas A&M. He flat out says he knew the alumni were paying his players. Yes, he was beloved because he won, but he was unethical.

As for Bama, google Logan Young. When the Feds went through his finances in court, it was proven that he had been buying recruits for them for about 20 years, which overlapped Bear Bryant days. I can't believe you don't know Bama's dirty history.

I included UCLA because of other basketball fans lamenting John Wooden's cheating to get his players. I don't really know of this other than that, but apparently he has a reputation besides winning.

What explanation is it really? That Candace plays a position that is a strength for the US team? Here is the rub, everyone knows that she is the best of the best (and that is why there is now a need to "explain" her omission). I think we have been (U) conned

There really is no way to justify this decision, particularly when the "selection committee" picked a comparatively inexperienced, less developed, and I think less physically gifted player (Stewart) in her place. Candace and team USA have been (U) conned.

This committee is a joke as is their answer why one of the best players in the world was left off the Olympic team. This is complete BS and has Geno's name written all over it.

You attacked a poster's (gule) satirical spelling of women… insulted the head coach, made fun of a gender representative (homosexuals), and told the VN to take it up the rump from Geno!! And, you call me petty and vindictive???If anything I felt I defended (Though maybe a little aggressively) my university and team.

I apologize for being angry. but when some attacks and offends on so many levels,it doesn't bring out the best in me. I am a proud Vol... My degree, be it from a UT satellite school (UTC) ,also says the University of Tennessee. So in essence I am an alumni as well.

My blood runs orange,until someone makes it run red!

I am not all Alabama fan,so I don't follow them so closely. All I know is every time I hear a speel about bear Bryant or John Wodden, it is almost always preceded by the "legendary" or "beloved".

This is what I go by. I am not a fan of their Universities, so I profess no knowledge or love for them.
