Carry Permit Holders

I haven't seen a single mention of H&K in this thread (Heckler & Koch). Anyone have any experience with these? My boss has some king of 9x19, and it's so sweet. Smoothest firing I've ever experienced. This one has caught my eye, .45

If you were in my shoes, and you already have a compact .40, would you want a sub-compact or a standard? Also, if you were going to have the .40 and something else, would you want a bigger or smaller caliber? I guess I would really like both a full and sub-compact .45, but that's probably not going to be possible for the next little while.

if you already have a .40 caliber I think I would want a .45 caliber. A lot of people don't like the .38 for stopping power but for an every day carry, you cant beat the size. Hard to say really what you are going to use if for. For an every day carry, the .38 caliber is going to be more compact and easier, for a handgun to keep in your house, go with the .45. :twocents: I'm not much of a gun person though.

On a sidenote nice price on this keltec, i think its around 260

Just buy hollow points

Yeah, I have the Federal Hydra-Shoks for my .40. Not exactly hollow points, but it will stop a person fairly easily.

I guess I'm trying to decide if I want a sub-compact for better concealment, or a full for home. I see my Glock compact as a compromise between the two.

Ruger LCP .380 - use +P Hollow Points for carry. Excellent reliability and conceals very well. I had a Keltec PF9 and had to replace the ejector, firing pin and polish the feed ramp to get it to shoot consistently. Keltec has a great warranty so the parts were free.

Glock 22C....definitely grip sensitive. But, once you learn....I sure wouldn't want to be on the receiving end.

Serious Guestion!!!
My carry expires 3/13. I may have another job out of the country and, expept for one visit, I probably won't spent time in TN until later in 2013. Has anyone renewed their permit early?? I've calling the nearest THP station and waited over 30 min to talk to a human and got pizz'd and hung up.
Thanks

What's the point of having a concealed weapon? Serious question not saying u shouldn't be able to have one w a permit.

Just don't see why it's necessary.

The Chattanooga times free press has an article in it this weekend about the McMinn County Sherriff auctioning off guns from their property room that they had confiscated over the years. The sheriff had the following quote "A well-armed, law-abiding populace makes my job easier.” That should be all you need to know. And as said in an earlier post, I would rather have it and never need it than to need it and not have it.
As for the original question. I carry a Springield Armory XD-40SC with a crossbreed IWB holster. Love the Springfields.

Studies have been conducted that show the average person cannot respond in time during hostile situations. One involved a class room scenario in which one individual was given a gun (paintball) and even warned "something" was going to happen. The rest of the class was unaware. In walked a shooter who opened fire randomly. In the panic of the situation there wasn't a single instance in which the person with the gun got a shot off before being hit. One guy who claimed he had a carry permit and "extensive" training got the gun stuck in his shirt while trying to draw it from the holster. He was hit for times before getting off his first shot.

As the child of a former police officer I can say that sheriff is in the minority of law enforcement officers. Most do not want citizens wielding weapons as it can lead to more problems than they prevent.

Not to mention just because he is a sheriff does not mean he is smart. Just ask that wacko out in Arizona, Joe Arpaio.

people are more likely to make brash decisions when armed.

isnt there a statistic that says your 4 times more likely to be shot or killed by a gun if you are carrying?

1) He's not the only law enforcement officer to say something like that...

2) I think that "wacko" in Arizona actually a ******* genius.

If most police had their way, guns would illegal and law enforcement would be the only who would have them......law enforcement and criminals.

We have more people in prison then the rest of the world combined because of our drug laws, imagine what it would be if we made guns illegal.

No one else here will admit it, but yes, this is correct, whether you're a scumbag or an 85 year old lady going to church.

I watch a lot of news and other than home intruder stories I never see anything about permit carrying citizens saving a life/preventing a crime with their gun while out and about in public.

Now off duty LEO are a different story because they are trained for hostile situations. My dad didnt carry when going to the grocery store but when we went in vacation he did. Im sorry but taking course one Saturday afternoon will not prepare the average person for a situation that might require a weapon.

Where's the proof then? I love how people just throw out numbers

I've heard of such studies, but the proof is also found within common sense. You are in much more danger if you carry a gun. However, you are able to put others in much more danger as well.
