Carry Permit Holders

As the child of a former police officer I can say that sheriff is in the minority of law enforcement officers. Most do not want citizens wielding weapons as it can lead to more problems than they prevent.

Not to mention just because he is a sheriff does not mean he is smart. Just ask that wacko out in Arizona, Joe Arpaio.

I have family that are LEO's and none of them share the same opinion of your father. Fact is police investigate crimes they don't really prevent them. Call 911 and see how long it takes for one to get to you.

Hell, it's not even fair to the police to expect them to magically show up when you're in trouble. (Minority Report was fiction) Besides, Castle Rock v Gonzales pretty much spelled out that, legally, LEO has no responsibility to protect anyONE, just the public at large. In '82's Bowers v DeVito (7th Cir/CoA) had this to say;
"...there is no Constitutional right to be protected by the state against being murdered by criminals or madmen."

Go figure.

When seconds count the police are only minutes away.

Hard to beat.

How is the concealablity onthe 229? Alot heavier than a g19?

I watch a lot of news and other than home intruder stories I never see anything about permit carrying citizens saving a life/preventing a crime with their gun while out and about in public.

Now off duty LEO are a different story because they are trained for hostile situations. My dad didnt carry when going to the grocery store but when we went in vacation he did. Im sorry but taking course one Saturday afternoon will not prepare the average person for a situation that might require a weapon.

A gun is the hardware, your mind and training are the software that runs it.

I carry a Ruger sr9. Got it for Xmas and LOVE it. I also love my sr40 too.

I know I am in the minority but I have always prefered Ruger over Glock

What are some of your opinions. The Ruger sr9 or the Glock 17?

Not fun when the guy you got for dui is at the ice cream joint with his buddies and threatens your family.
I watched juvenile's in lock up for a while14-18 years old. I saw a guy on the outside one time and he ignored me and I him but it was a strange kind of feeling. I feel for you.

I carry mine pretty much anywhere that doesn't have security or a metal detector. Having it when you need it is a lot better than the alternative.

Ruger LCP in a pocket holster.

I have a Sig P228, previously owned by the Zurich police, that I love and carry sometimes, but it's a bit bulky for discreet carry. It's a sweet gun to fire.

I'm looking for a good IWB (inside waist band) holster for a 1911 GI .45 micro. Anyone have any recommendations?

They aren't cheap and there's a wait but one of the Milt Sparks holsters might suit your need and they are top, TOP quality.

I have a couple Supertucks from Crossbreed and they are very comfortable for me and are well liked in most circles.

I went to bg gun show in nashville on saturday and they had horrible pricing. I went looking for the rock island. With some research, i found bellshire hardware and guns in nashville. Through the internet, i found that they are the nations largest supplier of rock island arms! I went to their shop and they were extremely knowledgeable in the rock island 45 auto. I bought an extra mag and the compact and was out the door for 464$. Reliability wise, nothing bad has been said about the rock. I took a chance on it and for a good entry level 1911, i am extremely happy with it. 90 rounds down the pipe and shooting tight 4" groups at 10 yards with the standard gi sights. I love this gun. I was carrying a Beretta 85 until i bought this little gem.

That is literally a mile from my house. Well, until this week when I move. Thanks for the heads up.

Kimber solo is a nice new ccw.. The diamondback is another, cheaper, small firearm. I love my xdm tho, 20 rounds of hollow point, I never need to carry a second magazine.
