I think we should all just blame Freak. We are 1-5 since you moved the girls of threads to death row.. :)

It's not the first time I've been blamed. I started the site in 2003. Think about our team since that point. :whistling:

Regardless of what happens this Saturday, this has been an abysmal year. Getting beat by teams with comparable or less talent (Missouri and Vanderbilt) and getting beat by injured or poorly coached teams (Georgia and Florida disrespectfully) has me doubting the future.

The receivers on Vandy and Missouri have more experience, and therefore are better than any receiver we have on our roster. GA and FL both have at least 3 years with their current staff. A lot can be said of stability AND experience. You can win a lot with both.

Is it possible to win the press conference after a loss to Vandy? Personally, I would think not. For those of us still pissed about the loss, the coach speak isn't going to make us feel any better.

No amount of sugar can make a loss to Vandy taste good.

CBJ Monday Presser:

"We are looking to be 1 & 0 going into the off season."

Interesting.

"You have to work on your "craft" at all times"

Never heard football called a craft.

"I see tremendous strides and progression in many areas."

'Success isn't totally measured by a bowl game."

"I see the progress everyday; sometimes that is not measured by wins and losses."

:)

Talk amongst yourselves.

I see you stretching to find things to complain about just so you could start a thread.

sounds like we had a year zero to me .....same song different coach

I agree, I was all butch a couple weeks ago, but I honestly feel that if we lose 8 games, that he should be fired on the spot. Hell Dooley never lost 8, and everyone says that he's not half the coach butch is, so if he loses 8, FIRE HIM!!

He said "we" all have scars.... I shivered thinking of Dools
I think this and lack of talent and depth is the problem.

No matter how good a coach you are, you cannot fulfill all the broken promises of former coaches and not all kids are going to buy in.

Sunshine pumping shall be done during the first year of a new administration wether we like them or not for the good of the program.

The day he step in the door was zero. On His hire date Dec 7, he will complete year 1 and begin year 2. I can see how they call it year 0. the fact is year 2 starts Dec 7 2013.

That bowl game was the team's primary goal until last week. Not achieving it doesn't make it unimportant.

And "tremendous strides" sounds like "The Best Coaching Staff in America" to me.

Total spin doctor.

You guys continually getting pissed over the press conferences crack me up. What do you want him to say? The dude has to try to stay positive and keep his players as motivated as possible heading into the final game.

I think some of you would prefer he just quit and cancelled the Kentucky game.

That might not be such a bad idea ... Then CBJ would not be the first ever Tennessee coach to lose eight games :good!:

Apparently he said if there is a way to sign 35 players we will do it. Let the wild theories continue to come.......

In the interest of balance, the more you suck the more players you should be allowed to recruit. That would give us 50 or so :).

Yup. Also, he has to think about holding together this recruiting class. I don't think CBJ falling on his sword at a press conference would be helpful.

sounds like some didn't get the personal apology to make them feel better. Did Butch still not throw his coaches under the bus by telling the 35 recruits we are close to signing that he and his staff suck?
Amazing that we have fans that want to hear that from the hc. They want the coach to tell the world how bad they prepared to play and coached in that game, yet don't have the mental capacity to understand why its a terrible ****ing idea right now.

"Losing to Vandy is actually unacceptable. Serious this time.

I'm resigning. Ladies and gentlemen, please give a warm welcome to mr Jon Gruden"

Seriously, what do you guys want him to say?

Yes, he sounds like Dooley. And every other coach that just lost a game they shouldn't have.

Its an effort to make something positive out of something that is not. He is the one that made making a bowl game the season's goal. He's repeated it numerous times. Now he's trying to redefine "success".

I think CBJ pointing out some positive things that we can build on, is in no way an attempt to redefine success as the goal of getting to a bowl. To twist this and try to put Coach in a negitive way as backing out of an earlier statement is wrong. Repent, and thou shall be saved.

Butch will get at the very least 2 years, what is better for the program? bash the coaching staff relentlessly during their first year, or pump sunshine in the hope that they will at least stock the team with high quality players? do you see the logic?

Call it what you will, but we are going into the off-season as either 5 and 7 or a pathetic 4 and 8. Nobody will recognize this hoped for "1 and 0".

I really wouldn't mind if he did the team and university a huge favor and turn in his resignation. It would save the university a lot of money and time that could be used on the guy who is going to lead the team out of this muck.

You are either stupid, or hoping to hurt our program.

One thing that stood out to me was his comparison to the first season at Cincy when they went 4-8. He said that team had some upperclassmen emerge going into year two.

He then said it would be critical for ours, namely Curt Magitt, to do the same.

Basically him saying don't expect a lot next year guys.

he may have put the jimx on Maggit,he was saying the same about McCullers most of this season

Boy the negavols are out in full force this afternoon! Flame on with your ignorance as the majority of volnation watches with amazement how life has passed you by. For the life of me I can’t figure out why you guys are not college coaches making millions of dollars. We tried somebody with your negativity (Dooley) and you see how far that got us. Just sayin …

Funny and stupid post.
I have been labeled negavol and that is fine because people that hang labels on people have small minds. What is funny about this is the fact I earned this label while speaking out about Dooley the past few years. Now you want to blame negavols for Dooley? Ironic.
I am not anti-Butch. I have never said fire him. The fact is he is the man for at least the next couple of years. All we can do is hope that it all comes together. That being said, I will speak about any glaring problems that I see. I will not blindly follow someone just because they wear orange and their checks are signed by The University of Tennessee. Some of you people need to learn to separate between honest criticism and wanting heads to roll.
