How retarded...here is a guy who was highly successful at two separate levels below the one he will now coach..dooley wasnt even mildly successful at a lower level...as for the 0-1 record vs dooley, so what? Spurrier was 1-2 vs dubose. Look up the phrase 'small sample size'

Some folks will never be happy. Waste of time and energy.

Never did I say that Coach Jones would be the next coming of Urban, I'm simply saying you can't discount someone just because they had success in lower conferences.

Can't spell ridiculous??? I had nothing to do with the spelling of this thread...you really need to read more carefully. Ok..i do see your point. However, 95% of lower tier conference coaches do go bust in the bigger venues...i hope i am wrong about this guy, but i had the same sick feeling i am having now when they first announced Dooley as HC.......

Use my brain??? I seem to be one of the few who IS using their brain....Butch Jones is not the man for the job...regardless of his win/loss record, they ALL came in inferior conferences....

With inferior talent...

What is more rIdiculous? Someone being hired after building a solid record of success at lower levels who was not the first choice of fans or the AD.... or someone saying that hiring is ridiculous who doesn't know how to spell the word RIDICULOUS?

Yes...AND an inferior coach....

Do you know Miles resume when he was hired by LSU? Do you know Saban's when he was hired at LSU? Both would have been considered "inferior coaches".

Support the program which means supporting its coach too. Hold both to a high standard. If the coach doesn't meet it then we'll do this again in 2 or 3 years.

What a retard...95%? Why don't you name some coaches that had success at TWO different lower levels and then failed at the highest level? Guy's resume looks like urban's before florida or kelly's before ndame

Like the man said, Saban and Miles had 0 experience in the SEC before they started. Not saying he will be that good, but it has to start somewhere! I'll support the Vols no matter what!

My old high school football coach is available...you probably think he would excel at the job also? Just because he had success at a lower level? Get real.

Oh, and CDD beat this doofus--badly. One of the few times CDD outcoached anyone.

You seem to have all the answers and can predict the future. I need to come hang with you, and you are such a positve person you have got to be cool as hell to hang with. Plus I wanna get the winning lottery numbers.

Wow, you are just horrible. I've seen some closed-minded posters on VN, but you take the cake.

You can not change the hire. You are in my ignore file now along with all other negavols. You are truly negavols that start at this state of the man's tenure.

First of all learn to spell ridiculous. Second of all this is the best we could get, no sugar coating. All the people who were asking for a proven mid-major coach when the Dooley era came about got it now. Although it would have been nice to have CBJ then, we have him now. After listening to him in the press conference I am sold. He has proven winning experience and his values are in line with those of the university. Go Vols baby! And of you don't like it gtfo
