CFB Playoff: Bama gets in

Redo the conferences genius. It ain't rocket surgery.

If you want a true champion, build it from the ground and stop putting bandaids on it.

I've long been an advocate for four major conferences. However, neither the NCAA nor the CFP LLC can mandate such a move.

By the way, you seen very upset this evening.

Ohio State or USC. They actually won something. All bama did was finish third in the SEC.

They don't deserve to be in.

If they played Auburn or Georgia they would get their a** whipped.

What if OSU or USC played AU or UGA? Both those teams actually have complete s***housings on their resumes.

So getting your ass kicked twice is a better resume than losing on the road to the team that was playing the best football in the country?

All this crap is settled with an 8 team playoff. The 5 conference champs get in automatically and 3 random picks.

My preference is 16 teams. Conference champions (10) and 6 at-large bids (for independents and others) based upon SOS and record. Shorten the regular season back to 11 games, tie in the bowls regionally to the conferences (limiting travel for some teams). Allowing all of the conference champions an opportunity, even in the MAC and Sun-Belt. This 4 team playoff isn't working.

Maybe. But I have to look at facts if I am deciding who gets in. Fact, bama is not the best team in the SEC. Therefore, I know they are not the best team in the country. That just makes good sense when deciding.

To put bama in is to assume that bama is better than USC or Ohio State. Maybe they are, but that is an opinion.

And I know what your opinion is You are like most delusional bama fans. Bama could have lost 2, 3 or 4 games and you would still think they deserve to be in.

As long as Saban continues to play Hurts they will lose to elite defensive teams. He is a glorified running back. Simple as that as they have lost to the last two they have played. Clemson will win definitively.

Ifs don't matter. BAma lost to the SEC runner up. At BEST they are third in the conference.

Undeserving. Period.

Don't you know? There should ALWAYS be an SEC team in the NC tournament. Doesn't matter if their schedule is crap. They are Bama.

I don't think that logic works the way that you'd like.
Once again proving that the CFP is just a s big a joke as the national championship was even before the BCS was instituted.

It's American Idol in pads. Nothing more. Enjoy your trophy. You deserve it. Oh wait.....

The CFP has proven superior to the BCS. Not really sure how any rational person can argue otherwise.

Again, you finished at best third in the SEC. Rationalize the 'logic' of Bama being in the hunt. Somebody 'decides' they belong. It is not objective by any stretch of the imagination.

It is not objective by any stretch of the imagination.

Objectivity is 100% impossible when comparing college football teams. You have 130 teams playing 12-13 games. Each team will play roughly 10% of the field. I understand that you'd like a complete reworking of the structure, as would I. But until that happens, subjective comparisons have to be made.

Have to? No they don't. If you really want to drill down on this, one of the biggest reasons they don't want objectivity is because of Notre Dame and their enormous TV contract. God forbid they should force them into a conference. The SEC has the CBS gig.

Ratings.

Money.

Vegas don't give a **** about having a real tournament. The media has pubbed up Bama as being the best team since the 72 Dolphins and the money has to be protected.

Actually, Notre Dame's TV contract isn't that enormous. They'd make a lot more money if they joined the ACC full-time. Notre Dame simply wants to maintain their one-voice within the organization.

No it isn't. The #9 team would claim they got screwed. Hell, in basketball, the #69 team claims they got screwed.

The problem with that system would be that eventually an 8-4 team would score a major upset in a conference title game and take the spot of an at-large team that was deemed to have a better resume.
