The amount of chaos of that happening has about .000000001% chance. Even winning completely out at 11-2 there's a good chance to be left out. No 2 loss team has made the playoffs and there is a high likely hood of a few 1 loss non conference teams that didn't win their conference they would take over a 2 loss team. They will still get in over a 2 loss conference champion.

Bama could win out and put them and Georgia at 12-1 and I wouldn't be shocked if one got left out. It'll all work itself out in the next month

Solely from a SEC perspective, we’d likely need the following from Bama, Ole Miss, Mizzou, and Georgia plus us finishing 10-2 aka winning out:

Mizzou - Beat Georgia, Lose to Tennessee
Georgia - Lose to Mizzou, Beat Ole Miss, Lose to Tennessee
Bama - Finish 11-1, Lose to Tennessee in Atlanta
Ole Miss - Lose to Georgia

In short: the above scenario would likely result in Tennessee beating 3 Top 10 teams in CFP Rankings at time of each game in final 4 games of regular season.

Bonus SEC: Texas and OU will play de facto elimination game in Big12 title game
What is amazing is I actually can see this happening. I remember what happened for us to get to the Orange Bowl and play for the National Championship in the '97 Season January 1998 game

We win out Georgia loses to Mizz or Ole Miss

We Beat an 11-1 Alabama in the SEC title game

We are at least a 50% or better chance of playoffs

Even if we didn’t make the playoffs I would be happy as a clam with the Sec title over bama

The fact that we are talking about the playoffs just goes to show how great of a job Heupel has done. Does ANYONE believe we would be in the conversation about the playoffs if Chick McGump was still here? No way.

Georgia - Lose to Mizzou, Beat Ole Miss, Lose to Tennessee

Georgia hasn't lost a regular season game in 3 seasons, so to drop 2 of 4 is almost unthinkable.

Also, they've only lost one game in 10 years when favored by 14+

Just saying...

If we won out including the sec championship we would be in the playoffs. But yes it won’t happen.
Playoff committee liked us last year. Moved us to #1 after ga barely beat fla. I think they want ga out and another sec team in. Probably bama

What are you smoking? We were #1 in the first CFP rankings last year based on our resume, so we weren’t “moved” there. Also, Georgia beat Florida 42-20 last year.

That is why I believe we can at least have a chance at a playoff game. Even though they beat Florida by 22, they put us ahead. The playoff committee clearly does not respect there 2 national titles, they fell to #3 even though they were defending national champions. If we win out the sec championship goes thru Knoxville. Cfp rankings have nothing to do with merit. If they did than why did Tcu get to play for a title?

We would make the playoffs. Ohio st/ michigan eliminate themselves. Fsu is going to lose somewhere

See I think it’s ridiculous. If it’s truly based on body of work, Washington should absolutely be above Michigan, whose only worthwhile game is against OSU. I hate, HATE Georgia, but no way should OSU be above them. Makes absolutely zero sense.
I think it has to do with playoff chances. They want the pac 12/big 10/Acc and sec to be looked at equally. Call it equitable outcome, but who believes that the sec teams don't deserve 1,2,3,4 every year. You are right about Washington

My concern is we don't get a fair chance. We win out, and mizzo and ga lose the right games, why shouldn't we be considered. I understand it is not the Sec national championship, its the college national championship. I don't think its fair when teams are excluded because the are in the sec.
If Tennessee won the last 2 titles, and were undefeated this year who would be happy with no Heisman trophies, and #2 in the cfp rankings?
Hate the officials, how bout the playoff committee

Look at the quality wins vs the losses and compare that to all the other 1-loss or undefeated teams remaining. I love my Vols, by Oregon would trounce us. So by saying that, should a 2-loss TN team with the SEC title leapfrog Oregon? Assuming OSU loses to Michigan, is a 2-loss team truly better than OSU? Hell, what about Texas? They beat Bama at home, whereas we lost to Bama and then beat them—assuming they win out in this scenario. So took us two tries to their one. Face it, assuming TN wins out, they aren’t going to the CFP.

A win against mizzo and Ga, and a loss for ga to mizzo, Ole miss and us. Lsu takes out Bama this weekend its possible. Is it probable? No but ot is possible. I understand the hate, but don't understand why everyone can't still believe

Washington is a great team. I believe they have a Heisman qb. They beat Oregon early, what else have they done compared to Ohio st, Michigan, Fsu?
