CFP Rankings

Not a bad start to week 1 of the CFP Rankings with ND, Mizzou, and hopefully, LSU losing.

Also OU on the ropes too!

Last year ga played UAb, Ball st, Kent st, and UT Martin. Why do they get taken seriously playing teams like this?

This is not hard. They are undefeated and the two time defending champs. Of course they are gonna get some boost

That can't be

What? Last year Georgia played Oregon, GA Tech, Samford, and Kent State in the non-conference.
That's my point, other than Oregon all those other teams should not count, the other teams were the year before. If we played those teams no one would take us seriously

Technically we have a chance but it’s extremely small. Honestly, what do you think the chances are that we win out and then beat either Ole Miss, Bama or LSU?
I am fine with winning out. You make a very good point, but nobody knows the senerio after that. Anything can happen and often does

Ole MS is a big problem for our chances. We need them to win against Georgia, which likely puts them at 11-1.

That would put us above Georgia and Bama if we won the conference, but still below Ole MS. So we’d have to be the second SEC team in, at best.

Possible, but unlikely

I think in next years format the conference champion gets an auto bid. They may consider that this year.

It would take 2007 levels of chaos for that to even be a possibility.

given how this weekend ended, we got some help in front of us albeit it small.

I don’t think it would be chaos for Georgia to lose to a Top 10 Ole Miss and a like Top 10 (as long as we beat Mizzou) Tennessee in a stadium we haven’t lost a game in 14 games.

Now the sad part is we would need Ole Miss to lose the Egg Bowl. My fear, while helping us have a chance at Atlanta, is Ole Miss finishing 11-1. I think their record would probably put them ahead of the 11-1 Michigan/Ohio State loser since that loss would be in their final game of regular season and Ole Miss would close on an 8 game win streak with a win over a potential #1 Georgia in Athens depending on Tuesday rankings.

I’m not worried about getting in front of Penn State, Oregon State, Louisville, and possibly OU/Ok State.

I think wins over Mizzou and UGA in back to back Weaks are enough to surge us into Top 10 going into final week of regular season.

It’s all pie in the sky to happen, but Georgia not losing to Mizzou means our Atlanta chances happen with a likely 11-1 Ole Miss squad / 11-1 Michigan/OSU loser ranked ahead of us. The question is if a win over a like Top 3-4 ranked Bama in Atlanta is enough to surge us up the rankings if the ACC(FSU), PAC12 (Washington), and Big Ten (OSU/Michigan) have 13-0 champs

Lots of if to this - but I do that all the time with the lottery.

- Ole Miss beats UGA and wins out at 11-1
- Bama wins out at 11-1
- Tennessee beats UGA ending at 10-2, UGA is now 10-2 (got to love that!!!!)

I agree at the time of the SEC championship game the order will be Bama, Ole Miss and Tennessee.

- Bama and Tennessee play in the SEC title game; Tennessee wins, well we know that SHOULD put Bama below Tennessee.

This actually becomes the same argument for LSU last year. And folks were saying if LSU, with 2 losses won the SEC championship, they would be in.

There are other factors as well - how many undefeated teams remain? How many 1 loss teams remain? This scenario could result with NO SEC teams getting in since Ole Miss was outside of the conference championship game.

While I would love to see the Vols in the CFP, this scenario keeps UGA and Bama out and I would celebrate seeing the "darlings" of the conference out of the picture.
