Who has Michigan beaten compared to Washington?
Last year Washington beat Oregon and Oregon st, this year they are #5 in the cfp. Their qb is in the Heisman chase, why do we pretend that all teams are treated equal? Huskies could easily be ranked alongside ohio st, Michigan and fsu?

Yeah I mean it can’t be because UGA is good right?
Would Bama be ranked #2 after back to back national titles, and an undefeated season. Regardless of who they played I would be infuriated if it was Tennessee. Imagine if we only lost 1 game the last 3 years with no Heisman winners. How could we not be #1. Remember williams won last year, and he has 1 ranked win in 2 years

It’s the exact same scenario LSU was in last year as a 2 loss team being highly ranked before they lost to A&M. Basically 10-2 LSU beating #1 UGA in Atlanta would have forced the committee to consider a 2 loss SEC champ vs someone like a 11-1 OSU/Michigan

Remember LSU was ranked #5 going into A&M game and a matchup with #1 UGA on deck and people were freaking out about a 2 Loss SEC Champ getting in before Brian Kelly flopped against Jumbo
Everyone who says we don't have a chance should look at this post. We are still in this. An Lsu win in the sec would have given them a playoff chance, even with 2 losses. If Bama loses this weekend to Lsu, then the sec is wide open, and the cfp won't ignore an sec champion. Unless it's ga

Technically we have a chance but it’s extremely small. Honestly, what do you think the chances are that we win out and then beat either Ole Miss, Bama or LSU?

Ohio State will have to lose three games before they get knocked out of the cfp.
A two-loss OSU isn’t jumping any of the one-loss p5 schools. There would have to be a whole lot of losing going on between FSU, Texas, Alabama, Washington, Oregon, UGA, Alabama, Penn St, OU… even Louisville, Air Force, Ole Miss, Mizzou. Every one of those teams (with the exception of AF) would have to get to two losses before a 2-loss OSU jumps them for the playoff, and 5 of them are currently undefeated.

November 13th will have the answer. A win over Ga and anything is possible.
What is a successful year? Sec east. Playoff win. National title? I believe we will be praising coach Heupel come January
What's your goal?

Ohio st was the one team that gave ga a close game. I thought C.J Stoud deserved the Heisman. With that being said ga did beat st. I worry if State can be #1 now even though the lost to the 2 time undefeated team
That means they are planning Bama will be the next National Champion

At this point 9-3 would be a good season. 10-2 would be gravy. Praising Heupel now and in January.

If they lose 2 of the next 3, entirely possible. They have mizzo, Ole miss, and of course us. All ranked. Who would win the east when we win out.
Sounds like you may have missed the gist of what I meant. Kirby will use being voted #2 as a motivational factor as in "nobody respects us. They expect us to go 8-5, losing the Weedeater Bowl." Something along those lines. Last year when the first rankings came out, they were #2 and the Vols #1, they promptly spent the game against the Vols sitting on Hooker's head for most of it. I.e., Kirby got almost what he wanted out of the first ranking. He would have probably preferred being ranked #5 if he'd had his choice.

If Georgia wins the next two games they are in Atlanta. Period. No path to Atlanta for the Vols even if they win Nov 13 in that case.

Is there a chance if we win out and the sec championship game to maybe sneak in if there is some chaos ?
If we win out and Georgia loses to us & Mizzou then, yes, it could happen. That would put us in the CCG as we win the tiebreaker.

Then we'd have to win against a 1-loss Bama or Ole Miss. Don't think we get in the playoff if it's a win over a two loss SECW team.

Crazier things have happened. Mizzou is solid and our defense can hang with the best.

Alabama plays Louisiana State in Death Valley
It’s a must win game for Alabama because it’s very unlikely Alabama could get in the 4 team Playoffs with 2 losses.

So SEC nation just said that LSU, with 2 losses, has a path to the CFP. Same narrative as last year.

Well they have almost an identical path as last year. Beat Bama and they shoot into the Top 8-10. Then win out to go to Atlanta to possibly face a #1 Georgia. Win that game and it would be hard to keep them out considering they would have a losses to two teams who could in theory be 24-1 after conference championship week.

I think the same could be said for us if we had the following:

Mizzou beats Georgia to move inside the top 8 rankings when they play us and we beat them.

Georgia beats Ole Miss to stay inside Top 8. Losing to #12 + beating a Top 10 Ole Miss likely keeps UGA in Top 8 when they come to Neyland and we beat them.

10-2 with back to back wins over Top 8-10 teams in the final 3 games of the regular season should set up a top 6-8 vs Top 6-8 SEC championship.

Being SEC champ + having 3 wins over Top 8 teams in a 4 game stretch that started with us at 15 (assuming Clemson holds on vs ND and Bama beats LSU today) would cause quite the shoot up the rankings.
