CFP Scenarios (merged)

Going to depend on how much value the committee puts on winning conference. Does a 1 loss ACC/PAC/Big 12 conference winner jump us at the end of the year? They shouldn’t, but will they?

I do too. I don't think 11-1 UT and 12-1 ACC Champ Clemson woudl be battling for the same playoff spot. I think 12-1 / 13-0 Clemson as ACC Champ is in regardless.
It’s odd to me you think 12-1 Clemson makes it over us but 13-0 TCU doesn’t. We’re well ahead of Clemson now and their loss is certainly far worse than ours.

You don't know what you're talking about. No way Clemson gets in with a loss with the schedule they have played.

If Nd goes on to finish 9-3 and Clemson finishes 12-1 ACC champ, they will be near top 4-6 range. Clemson will get the same bias that we hate OSU and Michigan for when it comes to “schedule strength”…..

Should OSU drop out of top 4 after today? Prolly. Will they? No

He is just off his rocker, im bored tonight so i hoped he finally admit it

The clemson loss should've been enough but alas, he chooses to be dense

#5 Michigan will win tonight and will likely move up. If #6 Bama has taken the lead and will likely beat LSU. I could see the committee putting us at #5 if Bama wins.

Clemson brand will carry more “weight” than a TCU. Clemson is behind 8 ball now with a likely loss. They need ND to finish 9-3, but if they finish 12-1 with a win over 1 loss UNC, they will have a chance at a spot.

I just view as this now with clemson losing

Playoff spots

1- SEC Champ
2- Big Ten Winner
3- SEC At Large
4- battle between ACC, PAC12, Big12 Champ in that rank.

What’s hurts is Notre Dame 2 of the 3 loses are to Marshall and Stanford which will make UNC and Clemson losing to Notre Dame look really bad.

lol. So if they lose the next 2 weeks….. that hurts us???? Please tell me you understand a 2 loss sec team doesn’t get in ahead of us.
the strength of a loss matters lol. Why would you complicate it more than it needs to be. We win out, Georgia wins out. And we meet them again in the playoffs

TCU has to lose
Clemson has to lose twice
Oregon has to lose again

TN has to win out
UGA has to win out
Clemson won't have to lose twice. They're getting beat down in southbend rn. So I'd say as long as Georgia and Tennessee both win out we should be in.
Michigan or Ohio St have to play.
Is anyone really gonna consider the loser over us?
We have 5 quality wins and one loss to the number 1 team.
Tcu can win out and we'd still be in over Clemson.
Clemson will have a bad loss against notre dame if they close it out tonight.

The amount of people who were overreacting earlier was crazy, saw some saying we would be 8th or something. Trust the statistics and analytics.
I was 1 of those people. Only because I think they are looking for a reason to drop us.

Idk man. ND losses are bad, but context is they have first time head coach and going through learning curve. ND ain't fighting for a pot, but if they finish 9-3, that loss by Clemson looks better than currently.

I think they will switch 3/4 but otherwise I agree.

Hear me out before saying I’m a nega as I’m far from it. The #1 ranking helps us as we could stay at 4 or drop to 5 this Tuesday. It depends if Clemson loses. However, the final rankings usually change after Championship Sat.

The committee will take an undefeated TCU team and possibly a one loss PAC 12 champ over TN. So I am hopeful Clemson loses tonight, though they just scored and it’s 28-7 with 10:14 left in game. TCU has to lose imo. They play Texas next week, so “Go other UT!”

UGA- in playoff with one loss

Bama- in if they run table; playing LSU now, Ole Miss, and then UGA if they run table. I hope they lose tonight and beat Ole Miss
Ohio St/ Michigan - I’d think the loser woiod stay home but could see ESPN and others fight for them.

Oregon/USC/UCLA- Oregon plays Utah and USC Vs UCLA. Not sure who plays who in PAC 12 title game.

I would feel better if Clemson and Bama both loss. And thenTN run table with TCU losing tinTexass next Sat and Oregon losing to Utah. Call it BVS but I always get nervous when our fate falls on a @committee’s shoulders.”

It’s so awesome to be talking about “playoffs.” A Clemson loss will bring more energy to this TN team as they would know that there are three open spots, w possibility of two w Bama losing and then Ole Miss losing to Bama

If UGA goes 13-0, we are in. If they lose in Atlanta and the SEC Champ and UGA are both 12-1, those two are in.

It is a fact that SEC is getting two teams in regardless. However, Tennessee has only one route there whereas UGA has two..... Winning today's game locked up a playoff spot, which is why it was such a big deal.

I agree 100%. It'll make it alot easier of choice for the committee if Clemson or tcu were to lose tho
